I was curious if anyone has seen a cue with a MOP joint and if it would even work and what the hit would be like.

This is a old cue if had around for awhile. Hits very good, and I'd say holds up good. Cue looks like "60's or early '70's . Jim

Most of the Mother of Pearl you see in cues is actually plastic type of material, and this includes the Pearl used in the old Palmer cues. If you were going to use this material in a joint it would need to be cored, and I would recommend using a thin piece of Phenolic on top of the Pearl material.

I think the cue would hit just fine so long as it is assembled correctly!!:)

Sorry about that!!!!!!!!

Those are pearlized plastic, a cue with a real MOP joint would be very brittle and would end up shattering IMHO. There is a company that sells laminated sheets that could be laminated further until you had the thickness needed and then turned round, however you're still going to have the brittleness problem. Oh, it would cost around $500.00. Those sheets are pricey.
