2 X 4 or 3 X 6 Case?

Looking to drop in and get a Justis, Murnak, Barton, etc.. case. Not sure if I should go for the 2X4 or 3x6. I have my playing cue, a jump/break, wife's cue and a couple of show off cues.

Looking for pros and cons and opinions.

I agree. I had a nice 3x5 (gave it to a nephew), bought a talisman 2x4(great case) thinking I would like the weight better. If I had it to do over I would get the 3x5 or 3x6. I miss the extra cue.

2X4 should work for ya. Let your wife have your current case (so no need to carry hers for her anymore). A 3X5 or 6 will tempt you to carry a SHOW OFF cue around with you whereever you go. Not only will this be heavier, but a bigger loss to you if it were to get snatched!! I have an It's George 2X4 and it easily carries my player, a J/B, and a jump cue (with it's shaft as well). Either would be fine, I just try to look at it in a practical sense, and there really isn't a need for ME to lug around more than one playing cue. Honestly, I could lose the J/B and/or the jump cue, but I may need to jump every once in awhile, and I'm not a fan of breaking REALLY hard with my player....

It certainly is a good problem to have (having to chose between the two) though, isn't it? :grin: :cool:
 
I use a 3x5 case. It holds my playing cue, break cue, Jump cue with 2 shafts (phonolic tip and leather tip) and a hustler cue that I use after league in bars so i don't get my nice cue banged up.

my next case will be a 3x6 so i can carry my original shaft and my ob1 shaft for my playing cue.

I like a 3X5 or a 3X6

Playing cue Break cue. A extra el cheapo cue if I want to use it to start off with instead of the custom.
 
I use a Justis 3x6, and I love it. I wish I could carry a 1x2, but no one plays just Straight Pool anymore. :crying:
 
A 3X6 isn't all that heavy...I mean, it's not like backpacking in the wilderness for a week to carry a case from the car into a pool hall.

That said, I've been thinking of moving down from my Justis 3X6 to a 2X4.
I keep thinking that I never have used that "spare" Jacoby cue I carry since buying the Josey.

I agree......If your complaining about the weight of 3 cues and case I think you need to hit the gym for a few months and forget about pool for awhile!!!!!

I also find it nicer to have more room then you use then to have not enough room for what you want...You can always expand with the bigger case.

I think that hitting the gym is good advice whether 3 cues is too heavy for someone to carry or not. At least from the looks of MOST of the guys that frequent my poolhall. :sorry:

I guess I'm good with one player cuz either I bought a cue that wouldn't kill me financially to replace or I don't play in seedy enough places to worry about it getting swiped. :confused: If I have a playing cue that I won't play anywhere I go to play (like some carrying around a "bar cue"), it's time for me to rethink my playing cue. :cool:
 
I like a 3x5 or 3x6. I like what was said above about weight not being a big factor. I usually walk from my house to my car, then the parking lot to the table with my case. Not much distance, it could be 20 lbs heavier and I wouldnt care. Plus, its handy if your selling a cue, raffling a cue, or who know what else, just nice to have the extra slot if you need it.
 
I have a 3x5 Talisman, and don't really need any thing more than that. I've been happy with it so far, weight isn't a big issue

billiard cue

two shafts for the pool cue and an extra spot in case i need it.
 
I like a 4x8 soft case into which I put as many tubes as I want.... usually 2x3. The rest of the space is great for a book, towels, and other stuff for a day's outing. I prefer Silver Fox or I have a cool old leather box case.. a leather box, no metal.. all leather, in which I usually carry 2x3 tubes and lots of 'stuff'.
 
I go 3x6 and carry two players along with my break stick. I just got a new playing cue but don't feel like leaving my old one at home either so the 3x6 allows me to take both. I'll admit that I'm likely to only use one, but the weight difference is pretty minor when you consider how long I actually carry it for (usually 50 yards from car to door at the most). Now if it was going to be on my back all day I'm sure I'd feel differently, but I can't imagine why I would walk carrying my cues for a long time.
 
I usually use my 3x5. I have a break cue w/ 2 shafts (1 leather tip, 1 phenolic tip), a shooting cue with 2 shafts and I put my jump cue in there as well, so that I don't use up the exterior pockets for the jump butt.
 
What cues do you need to have with you when you are out, and what ones can be left at home? A 2X4 will be all you need unless you need to carry your cue, her cue, and the break cue as well.
 
3x6 +

It's a whole lot easier to have the extra space available than to carry 2 cases when the need arises.

I currently use 2/2 and have only playing Joss in it.But I'm getting a custom snooker cue soon,and then maybe Josey SP in a couple of months!
So I think I should get 3/6 ( for a couple of extra 314-2 =)))) )
As it was said already "you better have extra room in your case than not have enough" =)))
By the way,anybody knows where I can get a nice case for a reasonable price ( used would be OK )

If you decide on a JB Case (Barton), then we have many many options for you.

Believe it or not I can make an interior that allows you to fit 3 butts and 5 shafts into a 2x4 size tube easily, securely and comfortably with padding between each part.

If you want more padding then we move to the next larger tube where we can put 3x6 easily with generous padding between the parts.

Since we build the interiors ourselves and since I have done and continue to do all sorts of experiments on how to configure the interior I am confident that we can make you a case which is super efficient with the capacity and still highly protective.
