Room in Champaign Il?

My dog has been diagnosed with cancer. I'm going to be taking him to the Univ of Il Vet school for radiation treatments the next few Fridays. He'll have to be sedated and I'm scared for him. We've been together 24/7 for 12 years now and the thought of losing him tears me up but pool helps me forget the danger and get my mind off of the possible lonely days in my near future.

I might have some time on my hands while he's getting his treatments and waking up from the drugs so I'm thinking that knocking some balls around will be a nice way to take my mind off my buddy.

Where's an easy place to find and to find parking?

I''ll be on Lincoln St and I'll be heading to the Cracker Barrell to eat (love that place!) so is there anyplace close? Thanks, Jim

Looks like I should have googled first. Jillians, 1202 S. Neil St, is not far from the Vet Hospital and I know how to get there. As a recovering alcoholic I can STILL find the pub with NO problem. :groucho:

Sorry to hear about your pooch, Jim. Been too many years since I was in Champaign to do you any good on a room, but I hope the best for you.

I'm very sorry and know exactly what you're going through. I lost mine in August. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 2 surgeries and $13k later, there was nothing we could do.

He was a great sharker and did fake dream yelps from beneath the table just as my opponents were ready to shoot. Blackballed was his last victim!

Thanks Tom. With any luck the radiation treatments will get him another six quality months but at 17 or 18.. however old he is, he probably doesn't figure to have any more than that without the cancer and the treatment. I guess it's just time for me to figure on being without him.

Steve...Sorry to hear about your dog! I remember him, from when I was at your house. Nice dog! :( I know we'd be devastated if we lost our Yorkie!

...and to JimS...Best of luck with the radiation treatments for your buddy! Man is truly dog's best friend!

Are there any real "pool halls" left in Champaign/Urbana?
There weren't any at all when I left there in 2001. The tables at Jupiters were well maintained, at least, and the pizza there is good. So if it still exists, that's my recommendation.

Jillian's was closed

When I was there last year the Jillian's was not there. I played at Jupiter's
2511 Village Office Pl. It is in a strip mall area; they had small diamond tables that played pretty nicely.
I was told their is another Jupiter's downtown, but I didn't play there.
Good luck with your dog's treatment.

Sounds like you had a good buddy. I'm very sorry you lost him. I know my time with my lil guy is short... he's about 17 or 18 yrs old. Still, it sure doesn't sit well with me.. Thanks for posting.

I just tried calling there and the number got me a fax machine so I think you're right. Darn. That was pretty close to the Vet School Hospital and I knew how to get there. On to Jupiters!

Edit: Got directions and I can do that. :groucho:

Thanks to all!
