Jim Baxter sent me two of DBK's full splice cues to take to the recent West Coast Cue Show and get some reviews. I had 7 people give them a try.

These are the two cues I recieved:

Both cues are solid and very well made. Fit and finish were perfect and the materials used throughout the cue are top quality. Both cues also have matching sets of JPs.

Cue #1: This cue was my favorite of the two. Actually, everyone who tried them gave very similar reviews. They all liked the weight, balance point, and overall 'hit' of the cue. I personally like a softer tip but that's just me. At first, I didn't like the oversized inlays but I got over that fairly quick once I started playing with the cue. This cue is the nuts! Seriously.. the hit is VERY nice. If I didn't have 3 custom cues on order I would buy this one. If you like wrapless cues.. definitely give this cue a try.

Cue #2: This cue was similar but a different enough not have liked it quite as much as #1. The shaft on this particular cue is very cool because it has points at the base. And they actually like up perfectly to the points in the forearm! Alternating different types of woods for the segmented handle. This cue also has fancier ringwork, and inlays in the butt sleeve. I think the combination of wood and the custom shaft make it hit 'harder'. I think if you like that 'tink' type of hit you would really like this cue. Again, the construction and tapers on this cue were excellent.

All in all, I was very impressed with both cues. And as I said, the general opinions of the different people were very similar. All thought they had great playability and construction. So, they get Seven Thumbs up!

Big thank you to Jim for letting me try out the cues. Looking forward to seeing more of DBK's cues available. His butterfly work looks awesome! Would love to give one of them a try in the future. *hint hint*:grin:

Man those cues look great. i love the points in the shafts! i was so busy eye f*cking all the cues at the show i forgot to try these out. Rex are these for sale?

Thanks :)
They are definitely for sale, ask Jim.
The second is in raffles section for sale.

DBK's work has always caught my eye. I really like the wood combinations and overall darker color spectrum in cue #2. That is my style of cue there. :) I remember the DBK butterfly cue that was up for raffle a bit ago. That cue was beautiful.... wish I would have had that winning number. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see more. Thanks for the review Cyrex.
