Unfair Mosconi advantage for C.W. ?

I recently received an e-mail from dragon promotions soliciting votes for Charlie Williams inclusion on the Mosconi Cup team.
I don't know how these douchebags managed to obtain my e-mail address but it seems to be an unfair advantage over the others in the running that do not have the same resources available to them.
It seems to be working as he has gained on Rodney in the voting.
I personally would like to see some new faces.
Dennis Hatch perhaps ?

and even with all that help he still aint in first. Kinda sad he had to stoop to that.

Personally id like to see stevie moore in it but things dont look so good for him. So I voted for Rodney. Anyone but CW

Vote Rodney, just so CW dont get in.

Our president showed the world how to run a campaign using the electronic media in today's world.
Rodney has made good use of Facebook in his campaign.

Might as well get used to it. It is a new world!

Nobody's spamming me with a facebook page.
No problems with posting a thread for votes, etc.
But spamming my inbox, complete with voting link. Come on !

True, but when they get to the voting page they will still see all the other candidates

I don't see any problem with it. This is however, a popularity contest  and CW is DP. Just ignore the spam or request to be taken off their list.

Consider yourself lucky for receiving only one solicitation, I am sure everyone of 8 short list members have directly or indirectly have campaigned to get more votes for themselves.

It might backfire on him. There might be many like you who don't like it, and end up going to the site just to vote against him!

He should consider himself luckier in the fact that CW doesn't have his cell phone number. CW also sent text msgs out to this address book in his cell phone.

I don't have a problem with the guys using email, forums, and social networking sites to campaign so long as it isn't overkill.

I do agree that CW has the advantage because he has access to the DP mailing list and anyone who has registered to watch a DP event streamed online will be on that email list.

The bigger beef that I have is that people all over the world can vote and CW has Korea in his pocket. Out of all the guys on the list, CW is pretty much the only one they know and he's made sure they know about the voting through emails and texts.

It just reminds me to vote again for Stevie.

Besides... $10,000 each is worth a little email spamming.

Good Luck USA Mosconi Cup Team.

He's definitely not the only player the Koreans know. And anyways, he's controversial here, just as in the States. He steps on people's toes wherever he goes.

I think this thread is a little silly. It's like getting upset when the cheerleader captain gets elected student president.

It's an internet vote, and people are upset about getting emails and using websites. Text messages I can understand being upset about, only because those actually cost money to receive in the (backwards) US. I say, if you don't want his texts, call him up and tell him to stop! I'm sure after the first 10 people do it he'll get the message...

I didn't say he was the only one that Koreans know, I said he was pretty much the only one. What others on the list are well known in Korea and which ones on the list would have as many contacts in Korea as CW?

FWIW, I got an email from BCA about a week ago asking for votes for Cue Sports International players: John Schmidt and Charlie Bryant (Corey Deuel is already on the team).

I just take all this electronic networking as being part of the new world order. As we all get used to this, people will be less inclined to act as drones and will filter out a lot of these kinds of requests.

Well said, and I agree.

I am not in CW's fan club by any means, believe me, but, like Jeanette Lee, he's figured out a way to market pool. You gotta give credit where credit is due. Like him or not, he has effected a change for the better with some players, especially those in the Dragon stable. Where else can, say, a beautiful lady with large sweat glands who can't make the semi-finals in a pro event be labeled a "world champion."

Anybody who promotes pool deserves recognition.

As an aside, I was once told by an industry member in my line of work that the most successful people in my industry are not nice people. They step on whoever they can to get whatever they can. In the end, their businesses flourish, and they become rich.

Whoever said nice guys finish last was right.

Kudos to Charlie for being industrious.

Like him or not, the man is a damn good pool player and has a lot of effective biz skills.

Charlie is a damn good player...If you compare him to guys like you and I, and most people on this forum.

I question whether he's a good player compared to John Schmidt, Rodney Morris, Dennis Hatch, Mika, Ralf, Thorsten, etc...

I would bet against Charlie vs. any of the above contenders...And I would like to see the US team win it this year. We need the US's BEST players to accomplish that.

Biz skills don't put 9 balls in the pocket...

Getting a newsletter out for Hatch today to the 2000 plus on it at OTR, Hatch deserves the support and I hope he wins because we do not need to lose 3 years in a row!

That's a great idea Lenny. I'm going to email blast my 200+ league players and try to get them to vote for the Hatch. Not that many people but I guess every vote helps.
