Dennis is good but why not "Rodney for Mosconi?"

I think we might be looking at this the wrong way.

Ok, on any given day the guys on the US mosconi contention list can beat one another. they can go on beautiful runs and solid play.

But we are not picking a player for a simple one on one match here.

You can't win a basketball game with 5 shooting guards. We already have Shane on the team as the shotmaker/power play.

Dennis is calm and focused. He def deserves a shot at this. I think Dennis can do a fine job

But I think Rodney needs a shout out.

It's not only about one on one match-up here. This is in context of Team play. This is not one on one race to 100.

Rodney can get the WHOLE team going.

His demeanor and energy permeates the whole atmosphere. As much as Dennis is a good player, his style is more of a European flair. We can't beat the Europeans at their own pace. Look at Ralf, Hohmann. We need to counter them with our relaxed, fast and loose, lets shake hands, have a smile, stay on the seat I just-ran-another-rack style.

The European side is strong. So we need to control the tempo. We can't get bogged down in there. We need to go aggressive and rattle them. Shake their confidence. Make them think "Hey, are we going to lose against the US???? Even with our strong line up???"

I think Rodney is the best at this. Especially when we need to overcome a deficit... and I REALLY think we are going to be down somewhere early in the contest.

That's what I say. Rodney for Mosconi. But that's just me.

man, I am so outta the game lately. I never come on here anymore. I didn't realize Rodney isn't going to be on the team. That really urkes me. I am a huge Morris fan. :sorry:

You can still vote for him to make the team. I just blasted it out on Facebook and others should do the same thing!

Does Hatch play Scotch Doubles well? Communicate with Team Mates well? Rodney has the experience and comfort level to mesh with Shane and others.

never heard this before...

If you read the comments by the viewers (about Dennis) they imply that Dennis has temper and show's it regularly and also accuse him of "sharking" LOL. Seems like I would have heard this before if there was anything to it. But, if he does have a temper I can certainly relate to that as I tend to be hard on myself when I play bad. I hope it's not true since I voted about a 100 times so far for him :D The last thing we need is more ammuntion for the Europeans to call us bad sports and sore losers. I really hope we BEAT THERE A**ES this year!!!!!!

Rodney & Shane

I was about to say. Shane and Rodney have been in scotch double formats before. I remember that. Shane asking "Where do you want the ball?" asking to Rodney what kind of position he wanted on the next shot.

Short and sweet answer from Rodney "Anywhere." :wink:

Of course he wouldn't say that if I was his teammate. I can snooker myself or teammate better than anybody!!! :grin:

What that really shows is that they should BOTH be on the team.

IMO the American team should be the anti-Euro team. The Euro team is mostly quiet business-like methodical pool players who show little emotion at the table.

I would love to see this American team, which would have a ton of fire-power but more importantly be pumped up and totally opposite in approach to the Euro's.

I cannot fathom how the Euro's would be a favorite against that team. No offense to Oscar but as good as he shot against Morra I think the Euro's are going to be shooting at him as a weak point on the American team. The above lineup would have noone that the Euro's could target like that.
 
after the last debacle in LV, the last thing we need is Mr. Relaxed. We need someone who is going to take the thing seriously and kick some Euro butt. Rodney has had his chances. Time to give it to someone else.

Great post and that tells a lot about Shane and Rodney. Shane can put the cue ball almost anywhere and Rodney can make the next shot from any reasonable position.....

I like Rodney too. He's a great champion, a good sport & a gentleman.

The Mosconi Cup is about competion between Champions. Champions have good character & we expect them to take losing with the same character as winning.

Dennis is a great competitor, I just favor "the Rocket"
