I dont play 9 or 10 ball. I was just curious about the terminology.
Cheers
There's lots of spots in 9 ball and one hole.
9 ball you can be spotted a ball or a couple of balls. You can be spotted games in a race or in an ahead set.
If I'm playing a weak player, I can probably give him the 6 up: which means if he makes the 6, 7, 8, or 9 anytime during the game, he wins.
You can spot a player the rainbow if he's an absolute beginner. That's any ball on the table.
From there, you got the orange crush, or some top players spot the three ball only because there may be a high likelihood that they will miss that ball and when they do miss that ball, there ain't no way they're gonna run out.
Normally, I'll give a semi lesser player the last two balls on the table, or maybe even the call 8. You can give another player the last three and the wild 8. You can give a player the 7 and the breaks.
If I'm racing to 9, I can give the other player a two game head start. That is called '2 games on the wire'.
It's really whatever creative way you want to negotiate to get that player to play you.
In one hole, you are usually give a weaker player a couple of balls. Instead each player making 8, you play 9-6 or 10-5 where the stronger player has to make more and the weaker player has to make less.
I think there is a pool terminology list somewhere. There has got to be one. I'm sure if you look hard enough, you will find it, but at least this gives you snooker blokes a wee bit of insight......
Gambling is fun. I don't gamble so much anymore, I'm into making cues, but I still like to when someone woofs some nonsense at me.
