*** Congratulations Team USA ***

This Mosconi Cup is JUST WHAT THE USA POOL SCENE NEEDED!

We needed a big ole shot of positive and we got it. I hope the momentum goes and goes. Wouldn't it be great to see our 5 warriors take the top 5 at Turning Stone?

I believe they are all attending, so let's wish them all good luck.

FWIW, I loved watching the Mosconi Cup live. At the same time, not being a big fan of 9 Ball myself I began to think what if there were other disciplines put into it? What if there were games of 1 pocket, 10 ball, 8 ball, banks? What if the opening round was a straight pool team event, race to 100? I think you'd see some pretty interesting stuff going on.

That said, perhaps what makes it exciting is the short races, single game kind of stuff that folks like to see. Although Europe was the only place watching it live, unless you went to the trouble to sit in front of your computer for hours at a time, so maybe it doesn't make a difference.

Anyway, congratulations to Team USA!

lol, I love it how people that just joined or people that come on here once a month, just skim through threads and find a post and then spout out something stupid without even seeing what context its used in or how it's aimed 100% at being sarcastic or humorous.

Taking something like Roy's statement which 99.9% of all posters on here know is just good natured ribbing, and making it something that a few obviously uninformed and ridiculous posters on here think deserves a bad comment with name calling and threats is just stupid.

Marine or not, please look into something called reading comprehension. It works wonders.

Apparently you know nothing about the sacrafices that military members go through. And I don't want to know about someone in your family that served. If you didn't then you don't know $***. I think the American flag means more to Americans than any other country. Thats probably why he said that crap. But I was just being honest. If he said that around me I would slap him. I wasn't threatening him, thats just what I would do.

I have lost 6 fellow Marines that I consider close friends in 2 tours in Iraq. I too almost died. I am lucky to me here. So I don't care if I just joined yesterday, if someone makes a stupid ass comment like that, then of course I am going to react.

For those that red-repped me, F off. Especially if your an American.

WOW!

J-O-K-E

And as a US Marine you would still face charges and likely be dishonorably discharged. Good luck getting a job after that, and with your wit and sense of humor I'm sure you will make it out alright:rolleyes: lol

Apparently you never served in the millitary especially the Marines if you think slapping somebody would get you discharged. LOL. Oh I already served 8 yrs and have a great job (civil service). I will retire when I'm 38. What a rough life.

You have no common sense. You're going to retire at 38 and then work another job for 22 more years, because you can't live off 60% of your pay. In the very rare case that you're an officer, I take that back. Regardless, you're an idiot for taking his comment to heart.

Get off the forums if you don't recognize incredibly obvious sarcasm. Talk about dangerously stupid.

Roy, I laughed my ass off reading the back and forth of your mosconi thread. I trust that you will have NOTHING to worry about at the DCC. If they can't find the sarcasm in that flag statement they obviously wouldn't be able to find you.

But it IS one more example of why you should NOT use your real name on the net.

I had soooooo much fun at that event!!!! It was awesome to watch DH play with so much emotion and heart. Simply awesome!!

I have not. I do thank you for your service. Congratulations on your anticipated retirement, I hope you can keep yourself busy after that.

Regardless of the argument, welcome to the forum. If you are ever around St Louis shoot me a PM and maybe we will not both come off as abrasive in person. First pitcher (bucket) on me.

your an idiot sir. I have been fortunate to inherit a house. And with the civil service you can retire after 20 yrs of service and use your military time towards that. So if you don't know what my situation is, then i don't think you should post these idiotic assumptions.

I'll take you up on that offer I go to St Louis again. St Louis is the best baseball city in the US. I had a great time at Busch Stadium. First pitcher on you, then the rounds of Jaeger-Bombs on me.

Apparently we're both idiots. Me for assuming you were an average lifer and you for taking his comment WAY out of context.

like I said in my rep comment, I commend you on serving our country. Being a staunch Republican, I support the military in any endeavor it embarks on.

That being said, I'll reiterate my statement that "reading comprehension" is a wonderful thing. If you'd take the time to read the other threads with back and forth humorous ribbing involving Roy and the Mosconi Cup then you'd know that it was all said in humor and he had no malice intended in anything he said.

Posting something in humor on a billiards forum about the Mosconi Cup is not some terrorist or anti-american fundamentalist trying to demean the American flag or way of life. So in that regard, your posts, while patriotic and passionate are still way off base and borderline psychotic. Not to mention the fact that he also just apologized when he really didn't need to.

I have to chime in and say Congratulations to the USA team!

What has this thread come to? Anyone who reads this forum knows that Roy was joking...now...in one sense I understand that of all things to 'joke' about maybe what he said was of a touchy subject.
BUT-it's all said and done.
For those who took offense to his sarcastic comment....take a step back.
I commend you for your service to this country...but if you are so offended by his sarcastic comment...what else pushes you over the edge? My father served 21+ years in the army, so don't tell me I don't know anything...maybe I didn't personally serve, but I was raised around it my whole life.
Our country stands United and it won't be torn down by a Pool Player's sarcastic comment. It was meant as a joke...americans have been poking back at him just the same with sterotypical comments...but I forgot that's ok, right?
It's people like you, who want to jump at every chance to attack someone for a small mistaken comment, that make me sick to my stomach.
My mother is Korean, which in turn makes me half...and I am tired of people like you, who have served in the military and want to show their spirit by jumping down the throats of mere jokes.
I personally have had a retired vet tell me to go back to my country because I look different.
And you know what?
My father ripped her a new one for it...and as I said he served 21+ years for this country, so don't preach to me.
And just an FYI, yes I was born in America and yes I am an American citizen as is my whole family and I am damn well proud of it.
but in the end-I know a joke when I see it and take it as such.
Life is too short...

A well deserved victory. Though you had a couple of good rolls all the US players showed their best pool, also Oscar after he struggled a bit at the beginning.

Hatch was fun to watch, shooting close to 1.000 apart from that missed 2 rail escape in one match. Loved his style of play so much. Totally different to Souquet or any asian player.
Deuel played great as well.

Even if the result is 11-7 it was a very good MC with great shots on both sides. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

See you next year, hopefully in Germany - and bring the Hatchetman with you

Congratulations from Germany

ROFLMAO, hard to keep a good sense of humor down.

Yup, I agree! Roy's a class act. Hey Roy, this "snow couple" has got it right!

:D

For those that red-repped me, F off. Especially if your an American.

Past the country, environment, and culture you were lucky enough to grow up in it would seem you are cut the same cloth of those people that scream jihad when a cartoon of Mohammed is drawn with a bomb on his head. Someone who truly likes America makes a light hearted joke and you respond with overblown threats of violence, the only thing missing was you using the word "jihad".

America will win the war in the long run because they have the moral high ground. They do not condone acid being thrown into a woman's face because she refuses to wear a burka, they do not allow the stoning of a woman to death because she did not marry the man her father wished, they do not participate in the mustard gas slaughter of thousands of their own people, they support the people of a country like Iran when the democratic process is corrupt.

All of that stuff, that is how America will win. They appeal to the moral standards of the majority of the people in those countries. The common people of those countries are sick of living in fear and under domination of the powerful few. The war will in the end be won from within, the people will change the countries with their own civil wars and battles to overthrow the violence and violent dictatorships. America is a example of a better way of life for those people and global communication and the internet are making it impossible for the leaders in the Middle East to hide that as once took place.

Soto, we need soldiers, but the most powerful attack on the Middle East is that picture of a soldier giving out rations to a woman and her starving children, that picture of a soldier carrying a wounded Iraqi child who was in the blast range of an insurgent placed land mine to an American medical facility. Those actions and the powerful message they send to the people of those countries are worth 1000 insurgent kills, they make it harder and harder for the people who recruit the insurgents to indocternate the people of the Middle East and preach hate for Western Society.

The most important battle fought in the Middle East I have seen was the rioting of the common people in Iran and murder at the hands of the Iran government after the fraudulent elections. That will not be forgotten, the pictures of a young woman dying in the street due to her want of true democracy will slowly help to erode the corrupt systems in place in that area of the world.

The war will be won in the end with morallity, and Soto, threatening physical violence over a joke is the type of mindset that will simply prolong the changes. The people in the Middle East who recruit terrorists and insurgents need people like you, you help them, stop being their puppet, an example of a violent intollerant American. The Muslim reaction to the picture of Mohammed won them no world wide support, they instead lost heaps, your threats of violence are similar and they do not help America.

And one could only hope you would first and foremost wish to truly help your country in all ways you are able. Be an example to the people of the world that America truly has that moral high ground. Don't just fall into a practice of reactionary violence that mimicks the people you are fighting against.

I am sorry that this thread has taken another direction than I planned, but I have to admit that I also like the fact that we are no longer discussing the Mosconi Cup :)
