Not talkin' about anyone in particular here although I'm sure to piss off somebody :rolleyes:, but I can't hold this in anymore. I keep reading these threads about cue cases and posters complaining that their cases are too heavy. TOO HEAVY:confused:??? Three or four butts and four or five shafts (most cases have far less than this) with a few accessories thrown in and all of a sudden that short trip from the poolhall parking lot to the pool table has accelerated someones heart rate as if they'd humped a 75-lb. rucksack across their back on a 20 mile hike :o!!! What the heck is happening to the poolplaying population that members of it consider a cue case heavy? Maybe we need to push ourselves away from our computers and get into some PT before hoisting a 12-ouncer has us sweating bullets :grin:! I personally tote around an Instroke 3X7 loaded to the gills and at age 56 1/2, don't find it at all offensive to carry. Are pool players really THAT wimpy???

Yes some of them are wimps.
Especially when they have this huge 3 x 6 with every single contraption known to pool in it, but still manage to say it's too heavy.

I think the less active you are the more lazy you become.
 
I know for sure I got strength ,I had to carry my league team on my back, 2 seasons in a row :grin-square::grin::grinning-moose::grin-devilish::winknudge:
 
well i dont really get people griping about the weight of the case itself....a heavier weight case usually means its a better case....


when you hav a 3x6 or 4x6 Loaded up and say your in vegas and walking 4 or five blocks to your match then yea they might get alittle heavy for older folks, specially in the 105 degree heat...

but then again your not exactly very smart for taking a 3x6 or 4x8 when all you really need is something like a 2x2, 2x3 or 2x4. i use a 2x2 with a jump handle pocket....and ive never wished i had a bigger case. so i could take my two other cues that im never gonna use

i have a guitar amp that weighs 65 lbs ...now 65 lbs isnt that heavy(the weight itself but factor that you have to carry it with one hand and its big and aukward...things feel heavier than they are. kindof like the old tube tv's i can lift 75 lbs all day but i cant pickup a big tv by myself...cant get my arms around it and cant see where im going if i do get it off the ground..

things like this is where weight comes into play....i cant really see complaining about the weight of a pool cue case by itself....but than again im not everyone

I qualify as a wimp. I'm a "very mature" female with very bad shoulders so, yes my case gets very cumbersome at a long tournament.

Yes - I want both of my "play" cues because they play differently & I don't know what the conditions will be til I get there

Yes - I want my break cue (which also holds my moosehead)

Yes - I want my short "the wall is in the way" shaft

Yes - I want my rubber claw

Yes - I want my red circle (you never know)

I didn't buy what I use just to leave it home !!!!

My Instroke case is pretty stout even when it's empty - next case will have WHEELS !!!! :)

wheels are nice.


but makeing an "ultralight" 3x6 case to cut down on weight just doesnt make sense.... how much weight can a person save when building a case????

i know what you mean about buying all the stuff and wanting to use it....
but if your case makes you feel like your arms gonna fall offf...lighten it up a bit..take some of the stuff out of it...your arms are more important than having your short shaft/ red dot / extra playing cue...if you know the venue your playing, (most people play the same places when they play), then you know what your gonna need or not.

....Have someone make you a case with Bookbag style straps.... noone has done this to my knowledge...sell my idea for profit. i dont care i like being poor.
 
Wimps

If you've ever played tournaments in Las Vegas, going back & forth from the convention center to your room, back to practice, over to the coffee shop, then to the casino, back to play another match, then to another room to watch matches, back to play another match, to the casino, to your room again, over and over all day and night, a light case does come in handy.
Time has no meaning in Las Vegas and your case is joined at the hip.


If nothing else, women like wimps.

Well, if it's got the wheels, why not add a seat and a steering wheel? Adding an engine can come at a later date; you can "do the Fred Flintstone" in the meantime -- boppity-boppity-boppity-boppity-vrroom!!

P.S.: I have a Sterling 4x8 loaded to the gills as well, but I think of carrying it as the least amount of exercise I can do.

I guess I am a wimp because my case is heavy and its a 2 by 4 fully loaded, it weighs twice as much as everyone elses 2 by 4 case though. It is no big deal going in and out of a poolroom but going to an event and carrying it around is not much fun, prefer a Silver Fox style case for stuff like that.
 
I honestly couldn't care less about weight. If I am that soft then I need to worry about much more than my cue case.

I carry a envelope style 4x8 with my player, my breaker, my jumper and an extra cue that I am either selling or showing to someone for some odd reason. I don't want to lug it through a 10K wearing 4 inch pumps but that is an entirely different matter. When cases start weighing around 40 pounds I will start thinking about it......until then I will be just fine.
 
I don't know about players being wimps.But I have noticed you can't make the regulars happy.And everyone of them that purchased a cue becomes an over night expert on the billiards industrie.
 
Once I get my gut lifted, the case just doesn't matter. But I prefer to go light on those rare occasions that I actually play nowadays.
