How much money is being added to the tournament?

The timing for this event is also strange. In year's past, when they have had this tournament, it was the weekend after Thanksgiving. With other regional events previously announced for this same date, a better weekend could have been chosen.

You might add what MONTH you're referring to for this.

It's the 12th of December. This Friday, Saturday preliminary flights and the top 2 of each flight advance to a 16 man tournament which will last ALL day on Sunday. The last one of these I went to wrapped up about 3 a.m. on Monday morning. Lots of wood chopping.:cool:

Thanks for providing this info, Mark. Yeah, in years past there have been some very late nights at this tourney. The proprietors of Billiards on Broadway have decreased the field size and shortened the length of the races for this years event, however, in an attempt to eliminate (or at least mitigate) this inconvenience. One other nice change is that there will be no Saturday evening session this year, which will leave the tables available that night for players wanting to practice or match up.

I suspect Andy Quinn won this tournament but do not know, where can the results be located? Thanks:frown::frown:

Not sure if the results are online, but here's what I think went down:

1st - Andy Quinn
2nd - Andy Craig (sp?)
3rd - Darren Everett
4th - Lou Figueroa
5th/6th - Mike Werner/Aaron Stoker
7th/8th - Travis Garner/Troy Kirkendoll (sp?)

Turnout for this event was a small but strong field. Other notable players were: Chuck Raulston, Jamey Martin, Snooker John, Boone Wagner, Jamison Neu, Ivan Sweezer, Arizona Jay, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting at the moment. Word is that there is a video of the final match that may end up online at some point. I will post a link as soon as I know it's available.

Quinn is who I would have bought in the auction.
Andy Craig? Where is he from? Have not heard of him.

Thanks again for the info.

Yep, hard not to favor Andy in this event. He played great as usual, and was a deserving champion.

I hadn't heard of Andy C. before this event. His g/f said he is an ex-pro snooker player from England who has only been playing pool for about 18 months. Not sure where he lives at the moment.

The room owner also told Andy Quinn that he was allowed to come back year after year to defend his title.

A little better planning on the timing and advertising of this event along with some added money surely would have gotten a larger field.

So did he even have a Missouri ID?

Snooker Champion from England staying over at the Holiday Inn?

When will next year's tourny be. I agree with Watchez, I would like to attend this event if there are not 2 other tournaments with more $$$ added close. Quinn can come back? What is the definition of an amateur?

It was really a fun tourney in all. I got to see some real old friends I had not seen in 5-6 years. Boone, and family put on a good event, and I am sure it will grow in the years to come.

I will try to keep everyone informed about it when next year comes around...

Yes, I look for this event to improve as time goes by. The owners very much want this event to succeed and improve, and they have proven their willingness to listen to and work with the players in this regard. I think the lifting of the ban on previous winners is a great start. Andy should certainly get a chance to defend his title, and we look forward to seeing him there next year.

Any pictures? Nice post. randyg

There was a photographer in attendance, but I'm not sure if there are any plans to share the photos online. If they become available, I will try to post them here.

I don't know the specific's of Andy C.'s situation, but I would assume that his state residency was verified at some point. Yes, hopefully there will be no such scheduling conflicts next year. I think it's safe to assume that there would have been a full field in Columbia were it not for the other event(s) occurring at the same time. Perhaps they will announce the date for the 2010 event sometime soon so as to avoid such conflicts in the future.

It was nice to see you there, Jamison. Give me a call next time you're in Mid-MO; would enjoy getting together to hit some balls again.

Take care,
