Question about Scrugg's SP

How many Scrugg SP have actually been made? And, how easy are these to counterfeit?

A short story: I was doing some work at a bank one time (bank has since failed) and was talking with one of the directors. This director was a big corvette collector. He got to talking about the 1967 tri-power 427 435 HP. I don't remember the exact numbers he was quoting me but for example: he said they only made 5,000 of them but now there are 7,000 for sale.

Back in the early 90's, they were crankin em out, so there are plenty of em out there. I have seen a couple phony TS stamps, and its pretty easy to detect. Thats not to say that there are not fakes that are hard or impossible to detect, but it seems like its too much work, effort, and risk for the little profit to be made. I could be totally wrong tho.

And 90% of them (Vettes) are now Red/Black. :smile:

I would worry more about someone counterfeiting an older & very expensive cue. I certainly don't know much about this, but I would think that you could fake an older cue by getting a part or two that was identifiable as coming from the cuemaker you want to fake and then "make up" a whole cue.

As with the Vettes, provenance is a more important part of any investment cue purchase as you go up in price.
 
I play with one and it's the best cue I have ever had, wouldn't trade it for any high end cue... Best $20 I ever spent!
