Table leveling issues

I have a friend that is trying to level his pool table that he just picked up. The 3 piece slate is lining up perfect on and when screwing the feet up or down we have not been able to find the spot where it is exactly level. When raising one side up a hair the other is thrown off and vice versa. I am wanting to know if there is any suggestions and which way is the proper way (if any besides parallel to the rails) to position the level? Any suggestions would be appreciated definitely. Thanks for any and all, Trav D.

What kind of level are you using, that's my first question?

Did you level the frame first before putting on the slate? Turn all the legs up and find which is high and turn the other three legs to level no reason for all four legs to be turned out. In case you don't have a machinists level nor want to spend the money for one to setup one table. Make sure the level you have is good check one side of the level turn it around and make sure it reads the same on the other side.

Trav - We're going to make down to your area one of these first weekends to my in-laws. I can bring my tools and levels and check out your friends table while there. Then we can smack them Olney's around for awhile after! Let me know if I can help.

Thanks for your help everyone. We took the slate back out and leveled the frame up and then proceeded with the slate. It is level now. Thanks again everyone, Trav.
