Anyone know Pete from Auburn, PA? I think he invented a ball cleaner with 3-balls and a drill. I totally wanna buy one of these things. Are they still available?

Last time i talked to him, he said he was done with them.
Doesn't he own that pool room named after his daughter?
You could call that
Or did it close down?

Don't know if they are still available, maybe on ebay or something.

If so, that's a shame. Seems like a perfect little device for me. If anyone knows him and he has some left in his garage.... I want one.

This was at least a couple of years ago.
Think he was telling me that initially, the business too off and he had orders for a bunch of units, and then something about production costs and other factors messed it all up.

It was called the "Mini Ball Buffer"

Think it was Alexandra's Billiards in Pottstown, or Pottsville of Pottsmansville or something like that.

My friend, if you would like to build an inexpensive ball cleaner that REALLY works, and would cost you about $45, take a look at utube - "billiard ball cleaner".
The guy on the clip explains just how to make it. I've made a couple of them, and given one away as a gift.

The only suggestion I would make is to make a crease in the carpet which you glue inside the bucket. This causes the balls to move in different directions. Otherwise the balls continue in the same pattern and do not spin.

It's self-fulfilling because you make it, and satisfying because it works!
Take a look, and try it.

Dave:

I'm not sure if this is the same guy (he's definitely a Nor'easter from his accent), but he makes an 8-ball version that you can operate with either a hand-crank, or a variable-speed drill. He supplies both the hand-crank as well as the arbor you chuck into your drill.

Look at those links and google billiard ball cleaner. With any type of imagination you can build one using a drill, hand crank, car polisher or buffer, blender and etc. Some scraps of carpet, micro fiber cloth, wool polishing bonnet pvc pipe, wood anything. Be creative.

I could never get the 3 ball cleaner to work worth a darn. I did make a polisher driven one that worked well. JoeW's looks good to me.

Hi Dave,

Would you be interested in buying a used Mini-Buffer? It is the 3-ball cleaner that you are referring to. I bought one years ago and it works like a charm! I no longer need it, and would be willing to put it up on ebay if you're interested. The pads are "conditioned" per the instructions, which means they look and are used. According to the paperwork, if you want to clean them, they can be "washed by hand with a mild soap and left to air dry."

Here's the contact information from the paperwork for the Mini-Buffer:

Pete is done with the ball cleaners. He said he was having trouble getting parts made for them. As for Alexandras,It was in Pottsville but closed down about 2 years ago but it was one of the nicest rooms we had around here.

How much??????

He used to come to our tournys at the cue corner years back. I think he also made a real nice tip replacement system?

Mini-Buffer 99 cents

How much??????
I received a PM asking for more details, so I responded with this, ending with "If I sell it, it'll be on ebay starting at 99 cents."

The Mini-Buffer is a small bucket with a pad in it that holds three balls, plus a pad mounted on a thing that you chuck into your drill that fits perfectly inside the little bucket. There is a liner around the inside of the bucket as well.

You put the polishing stuff (I think it's like car wax) and half the balls in a plastic bag and work it around, then take the balls out and let them dry while putting the other half of the balls in the bag and working them around.

After the polish is dry, you put the balls, three at a time, in the bucket, and using your variable speed drill, you put the top buffer on top and spin.

It works really well. I suspect JimS might have been putting too much pressure on it - it doesn't take much.

If I sell it, it'll be on ebay starting at 99 cents.
