I am checking out curling right now and I must say there is a lot of similarities between this sport and pool. Looking at the focus on the face of the gals shooting the stone is nearly the same as the face of the pro women that I have seen playing pool. Quite the follow through also.:cool:
I could only imagine our game and what something like the Olympics could do for it.
 
I thought of and noticed the same thing.

I think that pool players could be very good at curling. Viewing it to me was just like a one pocket game, put a stone near here, take out this one, use this shot to take out multiple stones, etc.

I have been a curling fan since before I started playing pool.Not sure why it caught my interest originally.I was a bored 20ish guy flipping through TV channels and was fascinated as I had never even heard of curling.I was never able to get my beer-drinking,football-watching buddies to appreciate the game but they sure did make fun of it.

I wonder how much betting goes on in curling.Are there any curling hustlers?

Similar to carom and one-pocket. I like to watch it, lot of strategy

I hope the Norwegian Clowns win it this year :-)

The way these ladys work together I would think twice before calling them hustlers:D
 
I'm really going to get for this post but curling is about as exciting as watching paint dry. In fact it might be more boring then one pocket. No, nothing is as boring as one pocket.

I am really getting into watching curling. I believe that it is similar to one-pocket. The strategy involved in both games is very similar in that you have to be thinking at least 2-3 shots in advance, but you also have to strategically re-position the balls or stones. Once you have your strategy in place you have to execute, and most pool players will tell you that is the hardest part.

I can understand how one pocket is not everyones favorite game. I played it for a few years and then came up with a hybrid game that is a cross between 9 ball and one pocket. It is a little more action packed, give it a try sometime, the rules are on my website at the bottom of this page.;)

Google "fire on ice calendar" or "curling calendar" and it will never be boring again. Don't believe me? Go ahead, give it a try.

I can't say I really enjoy watching it, but def respect the game and do see some similarities to pool.

Curling and Pool

My Oponent did not think it was funny when I used the table brush to clear a path for the cue ball to help it scratch curing his shot.
