Action shots from the RTC

Hi all!

I drove up from my home to the tournament just to hang out, take some cool pictures and meet some of the players I hadn't met yet and have posted some action shots on my facebook page - These are my personal photos :)

What a great tourney and kudo's to my girls Melissa Herndon and Melissa Morris for running such a great event!

Thanks!
Anne

Thanks PoolBum :)

The finals for the RTC is set -

Mary Rakin vs. Shu-Han Chang

Mary defeated Kim Benson 9-6 while Chang beat Naomi Williams 9-2

De Ja Vu:
Cal Billiards Oct 2009
Mary Rakin has been competing confidently since she was a Junior; representing the United States at Worlds on more than one occasion. She is making a name for herself as a poised, but deadly competitor. She began this event with a first round Bye; then smoothly defeated Carolin Koo, Deborah Cullen, Mary Anne Ereso, Revelina Um and Kim Benson; with only one of these opponents reaching higher than 3 games. While Mary waited to see her opponent would be in the finals; the other competitors battled it out. Eventually, it was Kim Benson who would earn another chance against Mary, but there was no need for a second set as Mary dispatched Kim 7/3.

Thanks PoolBum :)

I understand that Kim was under additional stress of having her car stolen!! Now she has to find a way home. I hope she has some friends who can help her out.

Shu-Han Chang wins RTC 2010

Mary Rakin finishes 2nd. Final score was 9-3

And by the way, Kim has a rental car to drive home courtesy of the WPBA.

Congratulations to all the competitors - I am so proud of all the ladies!

Tried my best to watch it but man ... it was really choppy feed (especially compared to USBA 3 cushion feed today which was fantastic).

I greatly enjoyed the feed, choppy or not. :) Thanks to Mike H. and Tina P. for their entertaining commentary. I enjoyed hearing Tina's take on pool and its' culture. She was also a good technical commentator as well.

Congrats to the ladies who received their tour card, good luck in the 2010 season!

Sorry I missed it today. Sunday is a family day for me most of the time. I try to keep my priorities in order.

Congrats first to the M & M girls (Melissa and Melissa) who did such a good job of running the tournament. A couple of good TD's in the making. Thanks to Eddie and Hard Times for hosting another good tourney, and hats off to all the gals who traveled from all over to make this a full field. Definitely one of the most important women's amateur events held all year.

Big applause to Ms. Chang who showed she is ready to rock and roll on the WPBA tour. I just wish they had more tournaments this year. They sure do have a lot of good players. The WPBA events are more competitive than ever.

And I really feel bad that I didn't get a chance to be in the commentators box with Tina or Mike. I know they did a great job though. Tina has never been bashful with her opinion (a good thing on TV) and she definitely knows what's happening out there. Mike has a smooth, glib style that is a perfect contrast to hers. I like his low key sarcasm the best. I bet those who were watching really enjoyed the commentary. I'd like to see a playback of a couple of matches if they are available. Here's hoping they recorded them.

This was a Mellisa Herndon and Co. Production,

I don't know how she got Hardtimes to hold the tourney and add money, but it was what Los Angeles/So Cal wants more of.

With the flyers and her bumping up the announcement on AZ Billiards she drew the crowd - full house. The stands were full of paying sweaters on Sat and Sunday to see amatuers.

LA has gotten a taste of the WPBA and this success will spill over to the WPBA Viejas Tourney next month with the Pros.

Thanks

First thing that has to be said is Melissa Herdon rocks.
She put on a great tournament.
The turn out at Hardtimes was great and there were many great matches.
Tina Pawloski, Amy Chen, Lisa Marr, Amanda Lampert and Kim Pierce you are all sweethearts and pool is a better sport with you ladies in it.
Melissa Morris also needs to be mentioned for all her help.

Watch out for Shu-Han thank young lady can play some pool, and with her limited english is a a very sweet woman.

If you want to watch some of the matches, check out the page's archives before they get deleted. You can download the clips (although they are in 5 minute intervals) in flv format. I downloaded 2 matches myself.
