Plus 2 Kicking System

I was watching an Accu-stats video and Nick Varner mentioned a Kicking System that he really liked called the "Plus 2 System".

Has anyone heard of this kicking system and if you have is there a place on the internet to learn something about it?

Thanks in advance,
James

One of the most useful systems I ever learned. I picked it up years ago in Bob Byrne's 1st book. He called it the "dreaded" Plus 2 System because it is very sensitive to changes in spin & speed, but once you learn it, you'll find it comes in VERY handy.
Seybert's has Bob's book "Byrne's Standard Book of Pool and Billiards" for sale at about $14, plus shipping. Trust me - this system alone is worth the price of the book...

There is a series of posts here on AZ that cover some excellent kicking systems, Plus 2 included iirc. Do an advanced search on user DEADAIM with keywords KICKING ACADEMY and you will get the 8 part (?) set. Somewhere in this most excellent material is what you are looking for. I would have searched it out for you but the site is too damned slow these days. There is also an MS Word document floating around that combines all the posts and diagrams into one file.

Ok, for everyone I've sent this to, it's important to remember that this was posted on AZ in multiple parts.

DeadAim kinda rambles sometimes and peoples questions are mixed in with his posts so it takes a bit of patients to get through.

I suggest learning them 1 at a time. When you've mastered 1 move on to the next.

It really helped me. I couldn't get my head wrapped around the diamond system till I read his explanations.

Yes, I'm sad to say that even Donald Duck wasn't able to get it through my thick skull with his little video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM2LjQrwO6g&feature=PlayList&p=895F5CEC048CED32&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=9

James, pm'd you for a copy of the doc. I copied that Donald Duck link to my desk top quite some time ago in case I had a chance to share it with someone down the road. You'd never actually learn the corner 5 from watching it, but it would be a great visual aid if you were teaching someone that system! And lots of fun, too!!

For those of you that want the file, Blackjack was kind enough to put it on his website.

If you look about half way down on the left, it will say click here to download kicking academy. Then, when you get the chance, be sure to send him a "thank you" for making it available.

Did you ever figure it out?

The way this system was taught to me you have to remember the numbers on the long rail and end rail and do math to figure out where the cue ball will go. I sometimes find this to be frustrating and tedious if the shot doesn't fall directly over the diamonds. Here is a simpler version from Bob Jewett where you only have to remember the numbers on the end rail.

One advantage I found to using Bobs method is if the cue ball in not close to the long rail. I just line my cue up, for instance, through the cue ball straight at the #3 diamond and look at where my cue is laying over the rail. Then count 3 diamond back. Hope this helps. :)

However you learn it, the Plus 2 kicking system is something you will use a lot. It takes some practice in the beginning to get the feel, but it is powerful.

You can use it for 2 and 3 rail hits that you never thought of before.

I picked it up from Tom Rossbergs videos and have taught it to many people. Those who practice and learn it really like it. Those who don't are frustrated. You must have confidence in the stroke and spin but, if you do, you will love it. You'll get a lot of "Oohs and Aahs" from the rail birds too, if that something you like.

Learn this and the "over the second diamond" system for 3 and 4 rail kicks and you will be very happy.

Highly recommended.

The Bob article description is the same as what I saw in the Dr. Cue video except Tom goes into a lot more detail about the spin to use, etc.

If you learn and practice this, it is something you will use a lot.

No problem, James.

Hands down, that is the best information I have ever seen posted on this forum.

I wish I knew who the guy was - I have had tens of thousands of hits on that file every year - consistently.

Does anybody know who Dead Aim is? All I know is that his initials are J.R.
