Sterling silver rings

do these react the same as nickel rings and occassionally 'pop thru' the lacquer?
if so, what is the best way to minimise the risk of this?

If you slightly undercut metal rings you won't have such a problem with the finish ...

Eric, by undercutting, do you mean using a small file after they are installed?

i use a small file and take them down just a little past the other material, then when i do my seal cote i make sure i put it on pretty think over the rings so when i sand it off later i wont have any low spots then im ready for the finish.
