Mistake the 8-ball for the cueball?

I've seen someone mistake the 9-ball for a cueball before, and once when I had ball-in-hand I picked up the 9-ball by mistake, but last night a man shot the EIGHTBALL into his solid.

Whats up with that?
 
Lol i do this sometimes with the 1 ball
Happened semi frequently for some reason a year after i started playing more serious.
Odd how the human mind works, maybe we just wish so bad that the non cueball was actualy there and our brain just attempts to twist reality!
 
This past Friday I was practicing 8-ball with my teammates. When my turn came up, I shot the remaining solid ball, before my opponent pointed out that I had stripes. Maybe its signs of Alzheimers or dementia.
 
I used the 9 Ball for a cue ball 18 yrs ago when i doubt i had Alzheimers. I saw another guy do the same thing and he was a player. All i can say is that it can happen and no one was more surprised than me when i did it.
 
I'm prone to temporary and for now, mild, bouts of dementia. In my case it's a condition called 'hepatic dementia' which is brought on by my diseased liver's inability to process ammonia. Ammonia is a natural by-product of protein breakdown / assimilation but when the liver cannot process it quickly enough it dumps it into the bloodstream and once it gets to the brain it causes dementia like symptoms. It's treated with a medicine called Lactulose.
 
I play 14-1 so much I sometimes play a shot that gives me shapes on the break ball early in the game. Problem is it happens playing 9 ball. :eek:
 
Depending on the color of the cloth, I've shot the 7 before the 6. To me the 6 seems to blend in on occasion and I can't see it.
OR, maybe its because of BEER!

I used the 8 as the cue at my local bar when I was in college, EVERYONE WAS STARING AT ME LIKE WTF? I had nothing to say, and still do not lmao..

I played some girl a while ago , not a strong player.

Anyway , she's on the 8 and does the typical 'stand behind the OB and line it up with the pocket' thing. Then she just fires it right in to the pocket !

I was like , "Yeah , you really need to use the cue ball to do that."

She was like OMG , why did I do that !

Never see that one before.
 
after a scratch I sometimes pick the wrong ball up out of the pocket and get as far as lining up on it before I notice. Never actually shot it though.

This reminds me of the whole 'what do you look at last' question. While I shot for years looking at the object ball last (and lately I'm having good luck with the cue ball last)... I never got so careless with whitey that I didn't look at it a couple of times to see where the tip is contacting.
