Back when the internet was young I found a web site that told the meanings of many old pool room sayings. I can't completely remember the history behind the term "Its George" It seems like loosely meant it was a good deal or a good bet. Anyone here know the history of the term?:confused:

Jim...I also remember that term, in reference to a "sure thing", or something "premium". Don't know the origin, but I recall it being used in the 60's & 70's.

in a casino a player who tips alot is "George". he is a "george guy". That's still used regulary.

In pool rooms I have heard term a few times-George as in nice guy. NOT Geroge as in sucker. This was many years ago in the mid 80's, I dont think I heard that term since 1990. I sure havent heard it since I been back the past few years

it was used a bit back in the 60's and 70's and someo the very old now still use it. George is like saying sweet Iguess, and "Tom" was very bad!!

iheard an old timer the other day say," take it to Walgreens"! hadn't herd that in years either. It got me to laughing pretty good though!
 
Thanks guys according to palmercollector.com "It's George", a snappy old-timer expression from the 1920's meaning "good". Now if I can be enlightened on "look out for TOM" I will be in there:D.
