NIR Chalk

8ball48043...Since it is "allegedly" the same, it should be cheaper, shouldn't it (it's not)? After all, they don't have to 'import' it. I'd say if you like Blue Diamond, buy Blue Diamond. It already has an established reputation. Most people trying to sell a good billiard product don't start out on eBay...they start with legitimate wholesalers. Add to that, that whoever put up the ad doesn't know how to spell.

It is not a US version at all, simply a different product made by the same company.
Longoni has this and Blue Diamond chalk made by Tweeten.
I prefer BD but some prefer NIR.

I know they are very different chalks. I use both often, and they certainly have different composition. I used NIR today and BD yesterday :P

I use whatever is easier to grab from my case each time I open the compartment I keep the chalk in.

Hiero, since you use both .... Any preference? Any differences worth commenting about?
 
NIR chalk I think is no where near the quaility of BD. Nir seems to have a very smooth texture to it, maybe good for masse but I still prefer the fine grain of BD.

I prefer the BD for casual play because it's cleaner. They are both great, but if I'm playing a tournament or something I prefer the NIR as it tends to stick better. I have a 2 year old sniper tip on my cue that is pretty hard from daily use, and the NIR definitely holds better than the BD.
 
Does anyone know where I can get some green diamond? I got blue marks all over my green felt from the BD:wink:

IMO, The NIR is suppose to be a little bit better chalk for grabbing the ball but much messier and will wear out much quicker. the blue diamond is a great chalk wears ok and grabs the ball pretty good.
pretty sure tweeten makes the all.
 
I also agree NIR is much too creamy and messy. It supposedly does offer more grip and is said to be used for carom pool. I've tried them both and I would have to say Blue Diamond FTW.
 
I bought both the NIR and the BD at the same time. I used both for a while. I kept all my BD and gave away all of the NIR.

The NIR is to soft, goes on too thick and makes a huge mess.

From now on, I stick with BD, Magic and pre flag Masters.

Different strokes for different folks!
