Here is the story.

1> I submitted offer
2> michaelseah accepted the offer
3> I made paypal payments to michaelseah@hotmail.com
4> He told me he had trouble withdrawing money from Paypal, and asked me again to send the money to new email michaelseah@live.com
5> I got skeptical and search around the net, and found out he's a possible scammer.
6> Sent PM to michaelseah, got rejected by not accepting PM, maybe got banned.
7> Send email to michaelseah@hotmail.com for clarification
8> He told me he wanted to clear his name, so He will ship the cues to me first and then pay later, but asking $100 for shipping fee.
9> I told him NO
10> Never heard from him again.

Lesson Learned, please be careful on your future transaction, especially when they do not have any itrader records.

Thanks.

The Newbie who got burned

This is why you must insist on a 3rd party escrow. There are some great people on AZ that have very strong reputations that offer their services.Sorry to hear about your deal going bad.Hopefully it will get resolved.

Start a paypal claim right away. If he can't show that he shipped you something you will get your money back.

You should easily get your money refunded by Paypal. Dispute the charge and Paypal will rip the money right from his clutches...

File a claim with paypal asap. And call customs or the philippine equvalent to customs and file a claim with them. Also call your credit card company and make a fraud claim.

There are a lot of new folks from overseas and this is something that seems to come and go in spurts. Post this on pi pool forum. There are some members in the pi that may be willing to help out...

Not everyone deals like this....

All this happened in only 2 days? He posted the thread on 4/7..... Although there was something about the way he was explaining himself that just didn't seem right..... I hope he does the right thing..... Thank you for posting your experience....

PS: Just noticed under his name.... He was banned

he might not be from phillipines, a similar post is on poolfanatic (a local forum)

Paypal is trying to get my money back, it could take a few days or even weeks. Wish me luck.

When I buy something and the seller does not have I-trader, I request that he/she sends me the item(s) first. Because I have reputation and why should I put up $500 or so and have great liability rather than that person put up a $500 cue and at least be a little eased with my feedback and others who can vouch for me. Or send them a $50/$100 deposit when you receive the item, pay them in full. If they don't comply with that agreement then you know they are not good for it.

And if the seller with Zero feedback doesn't want to ship it out first, I don't buy it. Or ESCROW.

Learn from this and good luck with that.

Yep - I do the same thing

Yeah, I do the same thing, because we were all newbies at one time, but taking risk is something none of us want. We already take enough risk with shipping the cue, and hoping it arrives in one piece, and that is enough risk for me.

I have done several deals with people with zero I-trader in the last month, and I asked for the people to send me the cash or cue first, and that I would send their cue/cash after I received it. I asked them to ask anybody around here about me if they needed to check my rep, since I do believe I follow through on what I say. If they didn't want to do the deal that way, then I would deal with somebody else, since the risk is not worth it for me. I would rather miss out on a deal or even take less $$$, then take any extra risk than necessary on any deal.

I believe all of these people have been satisfied with the deals, and I have also been satisfied, and therefore there were no issues.

The scammer also tried to do a deal with me, but he seemed fishy, and I didn't need to take any risk - the deal looked too good to be true, and no rep meant NO DEAL.

I feel sorry for the person scammed, and hope he is able to get his money back. Hopefully we can all learn from this, just wish it doesn't cost anybody money for the education.

I have never used Escrow, but highly suggest it, if you feel the need for the added protection. And I would recommend Marcus/Fast n' Loose, since he is a very trustworthy asset to AZB. Though we have never made a deal - but maybe soon:grin:

Thanks,

Michael

Buying

Thank you for the tips on safe buying duce being new to the site all has been good so far and i have meet some very good folks on this site but in reading your tips i'm a little better schooled in the world of online trading. But on a positive note last week i was buying a cue and the person also had a case for a few hundred $$ and he is sending the cue and case the case without payment saying that if i like it send payment and if not send case back. I was floored of the trust this guy put out there without knowing me other then a few words on the phone so back to the positive note there are alot of really good people on this site and it seems to me to be a really close knit community

I hate to see things like this happen. Hopefully, PayPal with get your dispute and take action while there's still some money in his account. Sorry you have to go thru this. Please post the outcome.

Thats why

It is situations Like this that make honest people seem like liers. Its when Liers pretend to be honest. Bama cues had the same problem not to long ago.
