Purchasing over AZB forums

Could someone explain to me in detail how people typically trade/buy/sell over the azbilliard forums? Is it done completely in private, and based on trust? For example, I'm asking for a cue, a potential seller contacts me. If we agree, do I simply send him the money then wait for him to ship the cue like ebay? Or do people commonly use the "escrow" service offered in the sticky? Thanks.

On the "Wanted/For Sale" forum you can either search for a particular cue that you want or post to the forum what you are looking for, using, for example, the Title: "WTB - Scruggs Sneaky Pete". Then, in the body of your post, describe what specific parameters (price range, condition, with or without joint collar, etc.) you want and then wait for potential sellers to respond with what they have.

Next, assuming you settle on a cue you want, there are a couple of considerations:

Does this seller have a good reputation on AzB? Check his or her iTrader rating to see how previous trades have gone. It's pretty much the same as ebay feedback. If that seems okay then you can make a decision as to whether or not to use an escrow service. My basic rule of thumb is if I'm dealing with someone with a good rep and it's not a really B-I-G money cue, I'm trusting them, but always make sure the cue is sent insured. Seen plenty of shipping nightmares.

There certainly are a number of sellers here with impeccable reps (ex. FastnLoose, DWBOD, Bamacues, KvnBrwr, Sureman) that I wouldn't hesitate to buy from directly, regardless of the dollar amount.

So, do your due diligence as far as knowing who you are dealing with, factor in what dollar amount you are spending, then decide based on your comfort level whether to proceed directly or through an escrow service.

Finally, whenever possible, pay with a paypal account that is tied to a credit card so if in the unlikely event things go sour, you will have some recourse.

Good luck!

Best,
Brian kc

I've always done things on here sort of like the old fashioned way.. eye to eye contact and a hand shake... of course doing it here involves cyber hand shakes.

You check their iTrader to get some idea of their trustworthyness. You check how long they've been on az and how many posts they have. If all that doesn't tell you much then you look up all their old posts and see what kind of person they seem to be. If you have friends on az you ask around. Then you take the plunge.. or not... or you use escrow.

Oh... I've never been hurt on az.

I've done a number of trades on AZ exactly as you've described, as both buyer and seller. Exchange a couple of e-mails, agree on the terms, buyer sends money, upon receipt seller sends goods. Read some of the iTrader comments, mine or someone else's, on here to see how successful the trades are!
