Packing your cue for the airlines

For all you people going to the APA, BCA, and VNEA how do you get your cue and cue case to and from the event on the airlines?

I have been a few times and since my largest suitcase would not take my cue case i would do the following:
1 put cues in my pool cue case
2 wrap the cue case in bubble wrap
3 buy a shipping cardboard box
4 tape a handle made out of cardboard and duct tape
5 put a nifty luxury brand logo (Louis Vuitton in this case) on my brand new $3 cardboard suitcase.

Since it is tape shut it's never been a problem it goes through like parcels. My only worry is for cues with ivory since it gets really cold in the storage compartiment at high altitude.

I put my cue case inside of a baseball bat bag, and use TSA locks on the zippers. I'm sure there's gotta be a better way, but this is cheap & works well for me.

I use a hard coat golf case. Pack the golf case with all my clothing and stuff for the trip. Lie the case in the middle, wrapped in a beach towel. I use a bright green samsonite TSA locking strap to ensure it dosen't open up by mistake in travel.

Seems like packing it up and shipping it to your Hotel, with a "Hold for Arrival" tag might be the safest .... and probably cheapest thing to do.

Ata case

I had an ATA case built years ago and it holds up great. you cansearch the internet or ebay and just look for the dimensions you need. Mine cost me 100.00 and it was the best investment I ever made.

I have used these Halliburton cases to ship my Sako rifle for over 12 yrs now....the prices ase moderate and the protection is back seat to none.
I've seen ramp apes toss these cases off the plane and watched as it missed the conveyor belt and fell 25 feet to the tarmac......case got a few minor dings......but the rifle still shot a 5 shot group @ 100 meters that could be covered by a match box......I would consider nothing else for protection

Thank you everyone for your replies. I went out and found a Samsonite that fits my case. Yes took my pool case into the store and it fits!
