Most UNLIKELY pool player pairing...

I was thinking about this a few SBE's ago when watching some of the pro players in action - that there was one matchup, in particular, that would have been worth the price of admission all by itself if it took place. Unfortunately, it did not.

The match would have been Luc Salvas vs. Danny Basavich. :grin-square:

Can you imagine the ever speedy Luc up against the excruciatingly slow Kid Delicious? Oh man, I think there would have been a fistfight halfway through the set.

So, besides those two, and maybe me vs. Efren, who do you all think would be an unlikely (strange, weird, bizarre) pairing to square off in a match? And why. Don't limit your choices to same era players; you can match up old legends with current players.

Jimmy Mataya and Luther Lassiter, or Keith and Willie. Willie was noted for his intolerance of bad pool etiquette like talking, smoking, etc. I joked with him one time asking if he ever hustled anybody and he blew a fuse. Imagine what Keith might do to him after awhile with his entertaining humor (not saying anything bad about Keith)?

That's what made the Mosconi/Fats encounters so interesting. I really think Willie was not a fan.

Definitely not in the early days

After traveling together for awhile I heard that Willie and Fats actually came to be friendly if not friends. Can't forget an early show when Fats made Willie so mad that he drug out his wallet and threw it down when Fats was telling him he wasn't a real pool player because he didn't gamble best I recall. Willie wanted to forget the taping and go head to head right then and there.

OMG, when Fats would call him William, like a parent talking to a child, Willie looked like he was about to go off: Oh William, oh William".

Mosconi vs. what's'z name, that practice 400ball runner who always posts here.

John Schmidt.

Willie would probably freak at first site of John's glove.

Joe Rogan vs Earl Strickland (but Earl would have to wear a full bee keepers outfit as the spot)
