I hope both players and promoters will get behind the new American Men's Pro Player's Organization. I know that Rodney Morris and Stevie Moore were by Johnny Archer's side when he announced it at a press conference at the World Ten Ball Tournament on May 18. I hope there are more than those three players supporting it. I would love to see a Prayers Organization help bring pool to the mainstream and pro level in my lifetime. Good luck with this Mr. Archer. Johnnyt

You're breaking the news to me here Johnny. I'd to would love to see a pro prayers association. The world needs more prayers.... that's for sure.

:groucho:

It would be cool for the pool players to have an association that could negotiate for them.

I don't know the details of how it's going to work, but I do know there is power in numbers and the top players should join in for sure. Even if a player has a sponsor NOW that pays all of his/her tournament travel and such, that doesn't mean he/she will have a sponsor next year or in some cases next week. Imagine if Shane or players like him had no sponsor. Would they be able to travel all over this country and the world? I say right now as good as Shane and some of the other players are that they wouldn't chance it on their own dime with the purses and the gamble they will get paid from some tournaments if they cash. I wouldn't blame them one bit for not paying their own way. Economy gets better, companies see that the pros have one voice and have it together=a lot more sponsorships for the pros and the good tournament promoters...IMO. Johnnyt

It's about time.

Good luck to all that are involved with this endeavor, now is the time to take charge of your own fate.

I was just talking about the lack of a single organization for men's pool - as I'm sure most everyone here has done in the past - this last weekend. I really hope this takes off!!

I nominate BlackJack as the club's enforcer. This man pulls no punches. Did I mention that I also love him in a non-gay way?

NAME of LLC

The name of the entity is "Association for Billiard Professionals".

Johnnyt, I'm glad you posted this but I am very curious if this is an association for players only or for All Billiard Professionals. Your post alluded to a players association primarily.

I was just wondering if other professionals might be considered for membership such as: Referees, commentators, promoters, tournament directors, Live Streamers, etc.

I'm listening to the rather lengthy but interesting Press Release. So far I haven't heard my question addressed although I may have missed it.

I am not involved with this in any way. I talked with Johnny briefly about a player's organization maybe 5+ years ago . FWIW, I think he is the best person to lead the charge.

Rodney, Stevie, and Corey are also very professional, well polished individuals that understand the industry, and what it will take to lead the players to grow with the industry. Hopefully Raj is also involved with this. He brings a lot to the table, as well as Tony Crosby and Tony Robles. Combine this players association with CSI - and I have to just sit back and proudly smile.

The future of pool is in good hands.

My health dictates that I stay away. Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with ischemic heart disease - that is not good news - and it is much worse than we originally thought. As much as I would like to be involved, I can't - and Shirley won't let me - and she can be mean and miltant - and its worse when she's right. So, from here on out I'm on the bench and offer my full support to those that are brave enough to move forward with this.

To everybody involved with this - keep moving forward in a positive direction and don't take any $hit from anybody.

:)

Just thinking a little further, I would hope that there would be an Associate Membership for the billiar professionals who are not players. Running an association for players, I wouldn't want non-playing people voting on the making of rules, however there is a need to protect the interests of the other billiard professionals who help to make the events happen.

Board......

With everything that everyone has said about this new formation of players do you think there is a strong/weak chance that almost ALL pro players will be a part of this? and if that was case do you think they would need some sort of board of directors among them?

Just thinking in the terms of a workforce union, my vote is jonny for president!
