This is public forum, people post if they like something, they post if they dislike something. If you took 3 or 400 of the active posters here, put them all on a conference call, and said we're taking a historic pool hall and slapping red felt on all the tables, just in time for a tournament, your going to get a large majority of people saying RED SUCKS.
Your going to get some that say, "I hate red felt, but I'll still come."
Your going to get some that say, "I hate red felt, I'm not going to come"
Your going to get some that say, "Oh, just get over it, everyone has to play on it"
Your going to get a small minority say "Cool, red felt.. Cool"
and then you will always have someone say "This is what ruins the sport of pool"
Nothing against the OP here... but am I the only one who is sick and tired of hearing the phrase "This is what ruins the sport of pool" or "This is why pool will never be popular".
I've heard that line almost every day in here. It's gambling, it's pool players attitudes, it's how they dress, it's how they show up late, it's this, it's that. It's always something that is ruining pool.
It's running a close second to the daily aiming conspiracy theories.
We're never going to have live pool televised on a major network, on Fri, Sat and Sunday, like Golf. It's never going to be like Poker or Basketball, or Football, or Hockey, or Baseball or Fake Wrestling, or UFC, or Boxing.
Let's just enjoy the game we love.... This mantra that's being pounded into people's heads of "All you people need to support pool, or you're going to be part of killing it" is getting old.
You can't guilt people into buying everything on the market pool related.
I would like to see the sport I love become a huge success and have live tournaments on TV all weekend, but I will leave that to the marketing geniuses, to do their job. I will buy a PPV if I can afford it and the quality is good and there's players I want to watch. I will buy a DVD for the same reasons. I will buy pool equipment as I need it or can afford it. I will turn up to any pool tournaments that I can and buy food and drink if I can afford it.
But no one is going to guilt or pressure me to do something "Because if I don't, I"m not supporting pool"
If I won the lottery, I would become a pool derelict, traveling around the country staking players, putting on huge tournaments, setting up TAR with all of the latest equipment and hire a crew for them and sending them around to film all the tournaments and huge money matches. I'd blow a big chunk of it, because I love action and I love to be around action. Pool action, that is:thumbup:
End of rant
