There is a player from out of town who gave the name of Mark Ingersol at a tournament at Charlies the other night. Someone said he looked like Mark Jarvis a real good player from the 80's. I Goggled an image of Mark Jarvis and I am 99% sure it is him. So just a heads up. One more thing he is driving a roofing truck with Indiana plates. Storm chasing I guess.

Did you happen to get a DNA match while you where at it? Geez. Why do you feel the need to knock this guy?
 
I don't see why Measureman is any more "wrong" for putting this info out there than the guy who is hiding his identity (and real ability) in order to take advantage of people.

But of course, I'm one who hasn't yet understood the glory of "the Hustle", or "getting over" on someone. That has always escaped me.

Taking unfair advantage is how it appears to me. Carry on Measureman, I believe you are every bit as "right" to do this as the guy is to try and "get over" on someone.

Now that measureman has shown his style, meaning, if he's playing someone you know that can't beat him gambling, then it must be ok with him for you to walk up to his opponent and tell em he's got no chance at winning.

If the guy is in fact posing as an unknown he is wrong for doing so.
But not the first time a poolplayer has done this !

Back years ago when I gambled seriously I would not tell someone that you can't beat me.
But if I was sitting there and a top player walked in I would certainly tell my friends who he was. Why would you let a friend get robbed at a pool table? Would you not protect him if he was getting mugged on a street corner?
And after a long lay off I have started playing again for fun only and sometimes I am asked to gamble cheap and I do now tell people that you can not win even so I will make a game that's fair. But I would prefer at this stage of my life just to play for fun.
 
Being mugged is not the same as negotiating a game. Anybody who agrees to gamble, must believe that they can win. In fact, Mark's opponents probably think they will rob this sucker. Unfortunately, the tables are turned.

On top of this, warning the entire Denver area about this guy, is not the same as warning your "friends". It's more a "do-gooder" mentality that ultimately brings down the game rather than help it.

Just my opinion.

When you see this Mark guy again tell him Oklahoma City has received a lot of hail damaged roofs this spring. A lot of work for him over here. Also, I'm pretty sure we can find some games for him. We currently have some roofers from Atlanta (among other place) and they play pretty sporty. They don't seem to have any trouble finding games anytime they walk into Chesters. I played one of them the first day he arrived in OKC. I didn't fair too well, but by god he will get action.
