First Cue for a Rank Beginner.

I always say CHEAP Viking, McDermott, and Players because of the Warranty.

Most of these people only want to spend max $125.00

A Players cue with a linen wrap and a maple shaft can be had new with a case for less than $75 They take abuse, they play well for the price point and if pool isn't your bag you aren't out a bundle

Spending a small amount of money for a cue can get you in trouble, so I would make sure that whatever you buy has a warranty that covers shaft problems like warping, and construction defects. There are a number of brands who now offer this protection some are imports and some are not, either way it is better to safe than sorry.

You can also tell them to wait until they can afford a better cue and just save their money. Many very very good players used house cues to win thousands of dollars, in the end cues are only a tool the players ability makes all the difference.

Well playing with the same cue removes a variable, and none of these people are going to win thousands of dollar, as pool to them is recreation. They don't play in tournments, or gamble on pool.

Most will never see 65 again, and honestly our house cue in our recreation center for the most part are in marginal condition.

BTW Players have a not bad warranty.

Now that we have a pool table my wife is finding she enjoys the game, and may even join my team this fall. I plan on buying her a used cuetec, maybe a couple of them. Any of the brands mentioned here sound good to me. In fact, I wish I still had my McDermott for her and when we have company over. Really, the only reason I'm going cuetec is a teammate has a couple old ones she wants to sell.
