Anyone have any idea who built these full splice shorty? The label said "Canadian maple processed in Japan"...just curious who built these full splice shorty. The 20 oz one has some really nice straight grain that I was looking to take apart and convert.

Any information would be appreciated. Here's some pics:

Are you sure they're full splice? Might want to take a knife & scrape the finish off over one of the points. I think they are just painted.
 
I will check when I get them...looks like you guys might be right. I really like the concept of these cues using ring as weight adjustment.

Got them....yes they are painted points...but the wood is well aged and might be very useful in some conversion. I like the idea of the add weight using ring. These are cue are in great condition considering that the are made in the 1960's. Also got a repair kit that sealed. This would look really nice just as decoration.
 
I bought a batch of old Brunswick cues that had painted points. In the picture, they looked like Tru-Balance house cues and the seller never discaimed the fact. I bought them, tried to rearrange a return but the seller refused. He admitted he knew but basically told me to screw myself. Ebay for ya. Anyway, I made a conversion out of one of the cues & it made for a very nice playing cue. The others I cut up for various other parts such as handles & what not. It was all very stable maple.

It's hard to tell what you're getting on ebay sometime but if you bought them right then it a good gamble. I paid 45.00 for this set and I think the old blue diamond tips alone was a score in itself. These are from the 60's and looks to be really good tip. As for the 4 cues...I got them because I really like the concept of the cue with the weight on them. Basically using a full splice, you can essentially control the balance of the cue with careful placement of weight rings while still keeping true with the full splice concept. Instead of joining the cue as part, you can create a long dowel on the full splice and configure the weight accordingly with proper balance.
