I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on some cues. I was wondering what the specs on a masse cue would be: Tip diameter, weight, length, taper on shaft, what woods to use, etc. Also wondering what the specks would be on a standard snooker cue. I want to build both and just need the info.
Any help would be great.
 
i would say this is fairly standard for a snooker cue:

9.5mm tip diameter, elkmaster tip
brass ferrule, about 10mm in length
57" total length
18oz weight
3/4 jointed
ebony butt spliced into ash shaft
conical taper
oil finish

The ones that I am building are:
10mm tip
Elk or Blue Diamond
Phenolic ferrule (to reduce weight and deflection)
58 inches total length
50/50
1.125 to 1.150 butt diameter
Weight 17 to 18 oz.
Constant taper from butt to tip

Masse cue weight secret is the 1/2" or 5/8" or 3/4" by 6" or 8" or 10" threaded steel rod use in the handle. More info can be found at www.cuemaker.com Dieckman site or search Masse cue on AZ forum.

Snooker Cue 3/4 or 1/2 style I believe Pearson [SP??] Cue have a video on youtube showing how they made snooker Cue, still by hand.

Tip diameter range from 9 to 10mm. Customized might be more than 10mm for some. Ronnie O'Sullivan uses a 9.5mm.

Shaft are normally Ash. But you can still find a few maple shaft cue.

57" are the norm. But you still would find 56" or 58" one. Height is normally shoulder height length.

You do find one piece cue(just like house cue), even pro use them. But most prefer a 3/4.

Handmade aka butterfly spliced in pool world are favorable by most snooker player. House cue and low end cues are normally made of machine spliced aka full-spliced.

Size of butt is around 29.5 ~ 30mm.

constant taper = CONICAL TAPER
