I have been searching in here, and can't find the thread, which most likely is somerwhere.

But I would like to know the oppinions about different chalks, what is best and why?

Blue Diamond

I like this stuff. I use a samsara break tip and it even sticks to that like a champ. It is kind of pricey (around $8 for two cubes) but if your not a grinder, it will last a good long time. Contact Realizm or Benefica by PM and they should be able to hook you up.

Master is the best I read it here somewhere. Silver Cup is good but messy i.e. it gets on your table & cue shaft. Triangle is hard chalk & dosn't cover the cue tip as good as the above two. Hope this helps.

The Blue Diamond is very expensive but consensus is it's the best. Master is what I have (16 cubes for less than the cost of 2 Blue Diamonds) and is considered best value for the buck. Silver Cup is a fine chalk but does powder out faster. Triangle is made by the same people who make Master and is also very good.

I like the Triangle chalk which is made by Master, but seems a tad grittier and I feel like it digs into the leather a bit better than the regular Master.

I have a cube of Balabushka and it's like an oil pastel crayon. I do not recommend going out of your way to find any of that stuff. I like Master, personally, but will use whatever is around.

I use my own piece of Master green. I have been using 1 piece for almost a year! I'v had to cut it back twice. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through it.

I've been using Master Chalk for years and I like it, but I would like to see what all the fuss is over Blue Diamond chalk. Many players swear by it and i'd like to try a piece to see if it feels better than Master Chalk.......

Paid a visit to Tweetens last summer. According to their shop manager, Masters and Triangle are made on the same machinery and use the exact same formula just different labels.

I didn't realize Blue Diamond was made there as well at the time, so the jury is still out on what the formula difference might be between Masters and Blue Diamond.

If I'm in the neighborhood again I'll ask, but Tweeten has previously declined to answer any questions regarding the formula for Blue Diamond. It could be the same as Masters, but as far as I have been able to gather, no one but Tweeten knows for sure.

Suppose we could give them a call? lol

Stay away from Silver Cup, that stuff is nothing but a mess. Masters is an excellent brand for the price. It's just a few bucks for a dozen. I have also tried Blue Diamond, and while I agree that it is an excellent chalk, I just don't think it's worth $7 for two cubes, especially when Masters works as well as it does.

I did a side by side comparison on blue diamond and masters chalk. From what I could tell there is no difference. They feel the same and chalk the same. If blue diamond is on the table with a piece of masters chalk I will use them the same but imo it isnt worth the extra price. I am not trying to knock anyones product I am just giving my results.

I don't care what chalk i use as long as it's Tweeten's.
I followed this chalk through a company name change.

..it may only be the placebo effect, but i prefer Triangle
when it's humid

Longoni Chalk may claim to be "Made in USA," but I'll tell ya, that advertisement definitely looks like it was made in China, e.g.:

  • "A Traditional Longoni Creation, Innovative During Time!" (Say what? What does "innovative during time" mean?)
  • "Used by the best billiard professionals all over the world is produced with a secret Longoni formula created over 30 years ago." (Two separate sentences joined very clumsily with "is produced"?)
  • "A real diamond for your cue: every english get the maximum result increasing your game performances." ("A real diamond of dyslexia" that sentence is for sure!)
  • "The long seasoning allows a high mixture solidity and a long-lasting performance." (What is "long seasoning"? Sounds like we're marinating meat or something. And what is "high mixture solidity"? This last sentence really reads like a Wal-Mart single-sheet-of-paper "assembly instructions"!)

This is a very sloppy ad for a company like Longoni!

Holy sh*t! I didn't even bother reading that, I just skimmed over it. Longoni, consider yourselves judged for the piss poor grammar, the obvious outsourcing of work while proudly displaying the US flag, and for not having one person with a college degree read that ad before running it. Nice work, Detective Sean. Can I be the Watson to your Holmes?

I wraped 1 BD and 1 Master blue in paper masking tape,so no one could tell what brand it was.I put a 1 and 2 on the bottom,1 for master 2 for BD.
The favourite was the BD.
Some did not like either and prefered the house chalk .

Light green master. Nothing beats it.

The stuff is like gold around here. I had to stop 3 people from walking off with it during my last tourney. Its so bad one guy said he just stopped carrying it cause people kept taking it.

brown master its the cleanest out there and of course works great to

Yes! I read this somewhere myself. It was either here or some other forum. My local Bar Table is Punked with the Silvercup chalk! Its good but, messy as Hades! Furthermore, they don't try to clean it at all! Gads:rolleyes:
