I have my full size table on a wood floor and was thinking of putting an area rug under it.
Would this work to dull the sound? plus does it need to go under the legs?
What size is suggested.
Or should i hand a area rug on a wall?
Appreciate any and all answers.

Even throw rugs will help cut down the sound effects;)

Noise:

I have taken some insulation, the kind that has paper on one side and the insulation on the other and cut it and layered it under the slate. I filled the void with the insulation and then used a piece of 1" foam board to hold it all in place. It muffles the sound pretty well.

I've been a drummer for 20 years, so I can tell you that ANY hard surface in the room you can cover with softer material will help reduce the noise. An area rug under the table will help. If the legs sit on it, it will reduce vibration more. Tapestries on the wall will help, furniture in the room will help. Anything to break up the sound waves instead of just allowing them to reflect off hard surfaces will help to some extent.

Thanks guys for the responses. As of now my thinking tends to a oriental rug under the table but i'm afraid it might not be balanced after that. I also want to add some billiard chairs and some pictures on the walls. Something needs to be done because you can hear the crack of the balls throughout the house.

My wife doesn't mind the noise, she tells me at least she knows I'm alive:p
