This is not another rail question!

I just got a GC III from the original owner and am fairly certain the rubber will need replaced. I have gathered from reading past threads that the k-55 profile is the correct profile. Who makes rails with this profile besides artemis and diamond? Thanks guys!

The original cushions are Brunswick SuperSpeed. You could go generic and buy cheap k-55 from muellers or any other supplier but I would recommend sticking with what was on the table.

"The Brunswick SuperSpeeds are too inconsistent right from the box. I love the Diamond Black cushions. They are k55 profile and make a table play ohhh soo nicccce!"

Uuuummm? I'm not sure which piece of advice to follow here?

Did the GCIII's take the modern Superspeeds or the old Superspeeds? If it had the old ones, the new will be 1/8" too thick, which would shrink the playing surface. I just encountered this on a II, but not sure about the III's

lol.......yup you know how to read. you asked for another cushion besides Diamond or Artemis. That is what your question was correct? As for my old post. I still like the Diamond cushions. But Mark Gregory has influenced me a little with the SuperSpeeds. If he swears by them who am I to argue. He plays pool like a God and is one of the best mechanics in the country.

Good lord! One more thing to complicate the choice!

I appreciate your help, but do you really need to insult someone because they are confused by your own contradictions? I'm just trying to figure which version of what you said to go with. You didn't indicate any difference between 'old' or 'new' superspeeds, you just said they were to inconsistent out of the box and then said to go with them. Given I'm not a mechanic, it seemed to me there is some contradiction here. Thats it.

Yes - the question was about other companies that make k-55s and it is clear that brunswick does.

I explained the contradiction. YOU ASKED FOR AN ALTERNATIVE TO DIAMOND OR ARTEMIS. I gave you one. You post an old post of mine and I explain I still like the Diamond but another mechanic has gotten me to give the SuperSpeeds another chance since he swears by them.

So what has brunswick done to address the problems they have had in the past?

Chris

Good question...not exactly sure what they have done...might be useing different fillers or maybe they made in a different factory. The last 2 sets I put on played great.

How would one tell if they are getting the old or new? Are there identifying marks? When you say Mark are you talking about mark gregory in atlanta?

Don't know if there is any markings that are different. I am talking about Mark Gregory from Atlanta.

Sorry about that triple post! I'll have to give mark a call and see what set up would be. Thanks! I'm hitting the hay!

Alternates -
ProForm K55
Tour Edition K55

With the exception of Artemis most all cushions are made in the far east portion of the planet.

Early 3's...with the GC2 castings have the same old style Super Speeds.
