Schon Ferule Question...help please

Hi

Schon used to use a rock hard ferule material probably in the early to mid 80's. If you have worked on these ferules or had to replace themyouknow what I am talking about Does anybody know what the material was?

I have a shaft with a Micarta ferrule that really hasn't yellowed,but it's plain as day it's not ivory or the linen-based stuff they use now. Tommy D.

If it's rock hard must have been an Aegis that was used to replace it.
I have two Schon ferrules from the 80's. It's a yellowish micarta but it's not the westinghouse kind.

If it hasn't yellowed - it isn't Micarta, at least not the original stuff.
It may be a later version, or a similar material from another supplier.

Westinghouse branded all their industrial plastics with the name Micarta.

The Micarta brand name is still being used today by the latest corp, I think
there have been about 5, to buy the plastics biz once owned and operated
by Westinghouse. That is why you can buy 'new' Micarta' today.

The mid 80's Schon cues came with Micarta or Ivory ferrules. Both are pretty hard hitting ferrules.

Just to clarify - that would not be the original Micarta that Schon
and so many other CMs used.

The original Micarta was not anything close to hard - I assume that
is one of the reasons people like it so much. I know it is for me.
