most underrated players

Danny Harriman
George SanSouci
Dennis Hatch
Sylver Ochoa

Interesting choices, but, I think if you take a good look at George SanSouci's accomplishments (pretty impressive considering his age at the time) you might reconsider. Before his neck problems arose, I don't think there were to many people in any rush to tangle with him.

Also, Dennis Hatch having been on an unplanned hiatus may have been the only thing that derailed his career, although, he tears it up pretty well on the Joss Tour, which is by no means an easy trip to the winners circle, he's been a tough draw in every tournament he's entered the past couple of years, not to mention his Mosconi Cup performance.

These two guys at very young ages were putting the fear in an awful lot of top players.

Just my thoughts!

This thread seems like a knock fest to me. JMHO

Why do you say that? I think one of Bartrams reasons for starting this thread was to show that none of it matters, it's just opinion. The other "over rated" thread may have bruised a few egos this one could soothe a few. Sure, to some guys they might get a little ego bruise by finding out they have been under rated all the time they thought they were great but in the end opinions expressed on this thread don't really matter much.

I say it because those players may work very hard to stay under the radar and when people come on here name dropping it just makes it that much harder for them to get the easy action they are used to. That is why it really surprised me to see this thread started by a seasoned road player.

i think jon pinegar is underated..not under the radar by any means but he can play with almost anyone when he isn't busy getting sharked by someone

please!!! If they wanted to stay under the radar, they wouldnt be playing big tournaments. Hopefully this will save someone some money when their opponent tries to hustle them. Its all fair in love and war!

See that cleary, now your career as a hustler is over. Sorry bud! It was best for the world to know though.

It's the world of hi-tech. In order to stay unknown and be a hustler they would have to be flying so far under the radar they'd have brush burns on their belly. Anybody like that probably isn't going to get mentioned here, although there have been threads like that before on AZB. But that's kind of natural since most of the people on this forum would be likely victims of the hustler.

9ball mike you make a valid point and im sorry because my post dosent sound very nice. I dont agree with you but I hear what your saying. Im going to blame it on me being a woman and my uncontrolable emotions. Sorry

Ike Runnels. Great player to watch, although you don't hear much about him.

ike runnels i agree ike finishish high in every tournament he is in .i meet him last year at dcc what a nice man to talk to.he looks like he been around for a long long time.

here is a few names that i think are and have always been under rated.
1.jack hines-back in the day a great player that was always the under dog when player most player but when all the dust was settles he took home the cash.

2. reed pierce- even thou he won the 95 us open all the money was on evryone but him.but for many many years he played and beat just about evey player that came thru and its alway been known that if you wanted to make 50,ooo or 100000 all you had to do was go the jackson,ms and play him.hes a very talented player but a better gambler.the best advice i ever heard him say was its not home you play but how you match up.

3.jack cooney.he maybe the best player that flew undewr the radar for over 30 years.but all the rounders knew who he was and to stay far away from him cause he had the talent to bust any of them at any given time.didnt play tournament for many many years and didnt have to made to much money not playing and being exposed.

4.sonny springer. here was an old time hustler that had as much natural talent as anybody back in the johnson city days.he was a great one pocket player especially with the plastic balls.money just didnt scare him,the higher the bet the better he played.

5.chris bartrum.the most scary thing about chris is that heisnt scared to match up with anyone and put his money in play.the reason he stays in action is that players still feel he isnt a top line player but let me tell you if you mess with to much he will bust your ass and he plays all games well but 10ball is hes best game.with as much gamble as he has he will stay in action which is good for pool

Mark the date and time please.

I say Paul song in Atlanta, Ga.

This guy is super smooth, and will break into the top level of pool. I've never met the guy personally, but I have watched him play many times. He has all the tools of a top pro and its only a matter of time before he has a break out tournament in a National event.

i did not start this thread t knock people.
times have changed with the net and sell phones
its hard to go out and hustle.
let me tell you i know first hand.

Krypton mentioned Paul Song and I agree with this. How underrated can a player be if he is constantly playing top tier tournaments.

I'll add Bill Bailey and Billy Young.

The most underrated players are the players who take any games that come their way, and find a way to come out on top. Whoever they might be. They may not have the "prettiest" stroke, or play a "perfect" game, but they find a way to get the job done. Those are the guys you underestimate, and take all your money. Those are the most underrated players.

Jung-Lin Chang

Terrific pick. His performances on the GUINNESS TOUR were phenomenal and what a great character he is. His English is very limited but he finds a way to communicate.
All the top Taiwan players are good company - Ko, Kuo, Wu etc are all friendly guys.
