Whats the best to use in your opinion? Bees wax, Plumbers compound, Tweeten's Plas-Co Cement or something else? I live in the mid west and our humidity is all over the map. My table is in the basement and the room is air conditioned and heated but still a little on the damp side ( barely).

I'm not asking anyone to give up trade secrets but if you have a opinion on what works best I would love to hear it.

bondo is the material of choice

Ok, thanks Joe I appreciate your help. I have done any of the work yet, I just want to get all my ducks in line before I do.

Bees Wax

Don't fill in ANY screw holes within 4" from the outside edge of the slate!

I always fill in the Slate Bolt holes with Bees Wax No matter where they are at.

2 Reasons:

1. If you ever Move the Pool Table, Bees Wax is easier to get out than Bondo.

2. I went to a house once that the homeowner had kids.
The kids were running their fingers under the rails and found the slate bolt holes.
They rubbed their fingers in the holes till the felt had holes in them.

Lesson Here?
Make Everything Child Proof and Drunk Proof.

The kids are good for business. If the parents don't teach the kids to respect and/ or take care of stuff let them pay.

It is very important that ALL of the bees wax is removed before using any other filler. I have came across a table that has bondo over wax and wondered why the slate shifted and why the tour edition cloth is not tight as the day it was recovered..
Now I'm the bad guy because I told and showed the table owner that his table was recovered and seemed poorly and improperly and I fixed the last guys work, now the table owner is so pissed at the last guy who worked on his table 7 months ago that he called him on the phone and yelled and pissed n moaned about what a poor job he had done and that he got charged more to get his table fixed because what he had left him with.... all the while I was still there working on the table..

I bet that was a little uncomfortable! You guys are great, thank you very much for your help and guidance. Sometimes I almost hate to ask a question on AZ due to the arguing that goes on but you guys are pretty good to deal with. I might hit you guys up with a few other questions down the road when I get ready to put on a new cloth. But first I need to abuse the one I have a little more.
