OK this will probably never happen but what if? I break and make every solid and I'm lined up on the 8. Can I shoot it or do I have to choose stripes? Tables still open,but!!! :shakehead::shakehead:
 
#1 in a bar on a barbox, you'd have to shoot the stripes.
#2 in a bar on a barbox, (next table over) you would shoot the 8 ball

#3 in a tournament, it is an automatic win (I would concede if you did this)

In World Standard Rules, BCA Pool League rules, APA rules, TAP rules, VNEA rule and ACS rule, you have to spend hours looking it up and would give up and then see #1 and #2.

When this ever happens, call the pool magazines. they will print the story and who ever makes the ruling will become famous.
 
8-Ball

Depends on what rules, league, tournament, whatever.
What if all 15-balls were made on the break?
What if Spartacus had a Piper Cub?

Good question, it will probably happen next Thursday night in my BCA matches.

In the BCA, you still have choice to shoot stripes. If you do, your teamates can pummel you with the butt end of their sticks.:eek:
 
Situation

On any table under ANY rules, you could shoot the 8 in and win.

The most balls I have made on an 8 ball break is 6.
 
1st. go to the doctor. the horse shoe is wedged waayyy tooo far up your ass. luck is good but you may be pushing it.
2nd. get a very thick rubber suit. the lightning strike is most assuredly coming.
3rd. buy the lottery ticket.

Worse possibility....you miss the 8, your opponent comes to the table and the table is still open. He sinks the 8. You lose!!!!:eek::eek:

This wasn't just a stupid question.With old 8 ball rules its easy,shoot the 8.But with ball in hand rules the table is still open and I can't shoot a solid to claim "solids" and since I can't shoot the 8 first I would have to shoot stripes and hopefully run out. Tom's right. {I think}

lol Actually if I missed the 8 it would be a foul since I can't shoot it first.If with ball in hand my opponent shoots the 8 I win. He has to shoot stripes.

With that logic, if you make all the balls on the break except the eight, then you can't win. But can your opponent win is the question? Or is it who ever makes the eight loses?
 
actually in BCA it would still be an open table after the break.

In that case i would shoot a stripe and miss...open table for opponent and hopefully he sinks a stripe and doesn't run out
 
Hire whoever racked the balls to be your permanent racker and take your show on the road.

Interesting question, and I understand that it's purely hypothetical...but if I was playing someone who made 14 balls on the break, I would quit! :grin:

I wonder if there's a documented case of someone making all the balls of either color on the break?
