AZB's own custmqs put a 41 on me last night on his way to two victories. :thumbup2:

He had a 51 on July 29 at the Illinois Billiard Club but the camera was on the table next to him recording multiple 3 ball runs.

Thanks for sharing Dennis...

jeff shoots a good 14.1 game, and i didnt know he was on AZ.

i look forward to seeing more footage by him real soon !!

41

I enjoyed watching the video. Nice run on a great table. It's too bad that 9 ball did not go on that bank. Sometimes it goes.
Thanks for posting.

Here are some things he did last year.

He has always had a lot of firepower and good cue ball control. I think his patterns are getting much better, now. He had a couple of unusual layouts for the last 4 or 5 balls and I was sitting there trying to figure out ways to get on a break ball and the patterns were not real typical. Both times, he "scratched his head", studied the table a bit and he came up with the exact pattern I was thinking.

He has nice touch around the table. You can tell he is trying to get the cueball to a just the right area. He does not always succeed, but the intent is there. Nice deliberate playing.

Thanks to Dennis for filming/posting and another enjoyable match. I truly appreciate the feedback and kind comments from everyone. I have a lot to learn about this game but feel like I am making progress. I am certainly enjoying the journey (most nights).

Nice shooting.

Seeing this I have a question that those of you who play 14.1 would have the answer for.

When is it advisable to break up clusters in a run (early or late) Watching this video in the next to last rack, the shooter fell on the 9 ball (I think) with what (I thought) perfect position to break up a cluster in the rack. He played the shot with follow to avoid the cluster and broke it up later.

From the little I play 14.1 I am sure I would have tried to break up this cluster earlier.

Appreciate the insight on this question.

I like to go into clusters earlier in the tack if possible this way you still have time in the rack to pick off those balls you just opened up a little easier with other balls to pivot off them with.
Also keep in mind when going into clusters, try to play into them when you have an insurance ball. Meaning a definate shot after you break them up. (Ie a ball hanging in the pocket).

Hope this helps

Jeff,

I look forward to seeing more footage of you shooting, you shoot a good game and have a nice decision making process on your patterns.

Hopefully Dennis captures more footage of you shooting. I think the two of you should shoot together more often, it would help you both emensly !

Yes thank you!
The insurance ball is important, it was not something I had thought of. Cannot tell you how many times I have broken up a cluster, and been hooked with no shot available to pocket.

Thanks Tony.

I actually considered using the 9 to break the cluster in the rack area. I chose not to because 1) I didn't really need to go into them... the 3 and 14 both went if I could get to the right spot, 2) I tend to try secondary break shots too early and end up creating more clusters, 3) I had plenty of chances to get there if I got out to the middle of the table cleanly, and 4) I didn't want to do anything more with the 9 than necessary. The corner pocket that I was shooting into hates me... I am pretty sure it is haunted.

Thanks for the insight. I could not tell that some of the balls in that cluster had pockets available to them. Given that and the corner pocket you were playing into had issues, you made the best decision at the time.
