Dosen't look like ebony.

The picture doesn't look like ebony. I am going with Rosewood. But hard to tell by that pic. When I get home I post a pic of an ebony Hoppe titlist.

Titilist

Actually its a rosewood model according to seller with the gold lettering at the bottom saying Willie Hoppe no stamped signature on forarm, I bid on it thinking it was eboney from pics turns out thats not the case, believe me I was disapointed ,I also asked seller via email about where the cue was warped with no real difinitive answer there other than the description given in the ebay posting,I asked about photo #4 he says its the same as #1 at the top and that I must be seeing something he cant. The cue points look completly different including veneer colors:thumbup:

The 4th picture looks like Ebony, but the others are clearly Rosewood! I sent a question to him with no reply yet? Ron

I, too, saw this when it first listed....something just doesn't 'feel' right about this one. Could be wrong...wondering if it is a snooker model perhaps?

I just got a reply from him it is ROSEWOOD. He said the 4th picture was taken in the shade. Ron

I'd bet it's neither rosewood nor ebony. Pics clearly show purpleheart. Gotta realize, purpleheart turns brown after a while. The grain structure looks like no rosewood I have ever seen and a whole lot like nearly all the purpleheart I have seen. That's nothing bad. This purple is clearly boldly figured & would be a stunning wrapless conversion.

Maybe pic 4 was taken in shade but pic 5 was definitely taken in the light...look at the shadow. It's difficult to tell for sure but the brown streaks (pic 3) tell me this is NOT rosewood...macassar ebony! BTW, I'm not surprised the seller would think it is rosewood. I've bought both an ebony and an OAK Titlist that were suppose to be rosewood!

Qbilder could be right...it is definitely NOT rosewood! However, I still think it is macassar ebony!

Whatever it is it has NICE points and veneers and would make a nice conversion! Ron

That is really NICE! I like the way he started the wrap below the Splice and the Brown Phenolic Joint and the lizard wrap! Yep that's a BEAUTY for sure! Ron
