A buddy of mine that owns a pool room would like to offer small towels to sell in his pro shop and we were discussing what kind he should get. He thinks that the players will need (want) a towel with a hook on the end (golf towel).

I told him that I rarely see players walking around with the towel hanging off of their case. I believe a large number of players have a hand towel of some sort but that they keep it in their case.

I'm looking for a little help from the forum here. Please let me know if you have a preference or no preference at all when it comes to your cue towel.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I'd probably rather have one that would stuff inside the case. I just don't like extra stuff swinging around. I should throw one in the bag though because I usually just use my shirt if I need one lol

For me, towels are more important in golf and bowling.

I used to carry a small towel in the case, but then I bought one with a eyelet and hook/lock attachment (kind of like a large safety-pin). I dont mind that it swings around, and with it essentially always out, it's always easy to get to. I dont use it too often, but it does come in handy for those extra dirty tables.

I use a towel and hang it from my case like the one Stljohnny uses.. I find it very helpful when humidity is high..

I keep a sock in my case. It saves room vs a towel. I wouldn't hang a towel off a hook on the outside of my bag. Seems unnecessary and aesthetically unpleasing for my taste.

I actually let the losers bring their own crying towels, you never know how big or what color they'll need.

I use 6 different towels (2 chamois, 3 microfibers, & 1 ordinary cloth) which I had custom cut to about 6"x6" in sizes:

*2 pcs Microtex Chamois (yellow): good for removing chalk dusts on shaft when damp, and for burnishing when dry
*2pcs Microtex Ultra (blue): for dusting the cue butt either wet or dry
*1pc Microtex Ultra Plush (green): safest & best for polishing and buffing
*1pc ordinary cloth: for wiping the chalk off the tip before storing the shaft inside the case

I normally just let them lay on the table, except for the Ultra Plush which I always keep in the case's pocket to protect it from picking up dusts that can scratch my cue. When transporting the case, I keep my cloths in the case

To address the original point, if your friend is going to offer towels for sale, the obvious answer is to offer the ones with the eyelet. Those who want to hang it on their case can, and those who want to keep it inside their case can do that as well.

Just having the option opens up the number of potential sales.

I now have a golf towel hooked to the top of my case. I use to carry a washcloth in the pouch but didn't like the space it took up.

That's what I was thinking too. Or he could order them without the hole and keep some grommets on hand to install if someone wanted the clip.

This is of course, the logical answer. This answer would work perfect for most people but my buddy is being picky. He wants a particular fabric which he has not been able to find with the eyelet but can find plenty without.

The difficulty in locating exactly what he wants is what prompted the whole discussion that prompted my poll. :o

Ditto here...eyelet towel hooked to outside of case. It kind of makes a political statement, since it's marked NRA...a "shooters towel". ;) I use it because it is made of top grade plus terry towel material. Those thin & cheap towels marked with 8 or 9 balls don't cut it for me.

So, my suggestion...make sure the toweling material is top notch stuff.

I keep a small face cloth in my bag. I haven't seen many players use a large hanging one nor would I. Thats more for a golf bag.

I actually have two. I have a hand towel that I keep in my case and a microfiber towel that I keep in my back pocket for the cue.

I'm with you.

no towel- If I did carry one I would not want a metal eye-hook on it. no metal.

I'm with you on this. I keep a plush hand towel in my back pocket. I use it to clean the shaft before every shot no need for metal. I have oily hands which doesn't help. IMHO  Time for a cold COORS!
