Tascarella Questions

I'm thinking about buying a Tascarella and have a few questions. I know this is a hard thing to answer, but what cues do they play similarly to? Can you describe the hit or characteristics? I love the old school 68-76 Joss cues. Would a Tascarella work for me in your opinion?
I love the way they look and the craftsmanship.

I have hit with several Tascarellas and would never use the word inconsistent, however, Pete can craft a cue to play more to your liking. Different components will have different feels and sounds.

His cues hit superbly solid and are very well made. I would suggest looking at the secondary market and perhaps starting with a used entry level cue. They are available from AZ sellers. Kenny at fourkingscues had two recently, as did Gary Nolan (Bushwacker) a while back. Stormin Norman also had one available recently.

Play with one of Pete's cues and speak to him from first hand experience.
 
Don't think about it. Trust me and get the cue. You will love it. My everyday player is a Tascarella. I bought it off a guy who used it as his everyday player for years. The cue was pretty beat up. I sent it to Pete to have it refinished and it looks like new. Pete could not give me an exact year it was built but he said it was "twenty something years old". It has the old lakewood shafts and the cue hits like a dream.

I've probably had about five or six of Pete's cue total and every one of them hit the same. No matter how fancy or simple they were they all hit the same. Get the cue you are thinking about, you will not be dissapointed.

Not long at all. I had the cue refinished a couple years ago. But I remember it only taking a couple weeks. He refinished the cue from top to bottom and made it look brand new.

I agree with what Ken says as well, the shaft on my player is the best shaft I ever played with. I still have not even chalked the other shaft since the refinish.

Ken, in my search to find the RIGHT cue for me I finally settle in on an early 70's Joss. It's totally old school with nice old wood in the shaft. I really like the old shafts. I find that when I play with other peoples cues with new wood it just doesn't feel the same. Do you think it's all in my head and would I like the feel of the newer Tascarella shafts. I'm asking you this because I know you love the old JWs.
