Pattern Racking

Just for the record for anyone that doesn't know- For someone who plays my speed pattern racking or not pattern racking really doesn't make much difference on how many racks I would run in a row. If 9 balls are out in the open it makes no difference what order out in the open they are. Well it might help out like 1 or 2 % but that's it.

I don't think pattern racking is a big deal for player who can get out most of the time anyway.

Where Donny is good is racking right, hitting at the right speed and angle to consistently make a ball and get shape on the 1. If you can do that, you're going to break and run a lot on an open table no matter how the rest of the balls sit.

you know without pattern racking you could not run out.

Donny you are a great player and I have all the respect for the time you spent perfecting your rac ur own game but I gotta call you on this one changing a couple balls makes a big diff. You rack as good as bust. or corey break, nothing illegal about it your just the best at it and somebody is always gonna try and stop it if its working for you.

The key is he makes a ball on the break and gets shape on the one. That has nothing to do pattern racking.

For example, if he racks pattern and doesn't make the ball on the break, he just broke good for his opponent.

He made the wing ball 81 times out of 83 or something like that. As long as your aloud to rack your own and move the rack forward or back on the spot you can make the wing ball on most tables using the soft break. On my table I can make the wing ball at least 90% of the time and I have a shot at the 1-ball in the head corner pocket, the two was the wing, 3-ball is almost in the side pocket or it dropped, the 4 is by the head corner pocket, the 5 by the other side pocket. 6789 are open. Pattern racking is a big atvanyage if you practice it. Just making the wing ball and having a shot on the 1-ball is just part of it. Johnnyt

Well how about I just play the 9ball ghost with out ball in hand and random racks everytime for what ever any of you wanna bet. You can put the 2 ball anywhere except the ball right behind the 9 on the opposite I break from.

While were at it. What odds or games on the wire can I get playing the 10ball ghost with no ball in hand?

It's a big advantage for someone that doesn't play super good. Me, I play so dam good that it doesn't matter much. I cant believe how uneducated people are about pool on this site.

Johnny,

There is a little trick to that. I can't blow his action, but there is still a tremendous talent there to be able to pull this off. The rack alone is not exactly "wired" or Shane could have pulled off the same thing. You have to use exact speed and exact aim, plus the rack has to be set up properly.

Like Danny D. says "wait a minute, the balls aren't going to make themselves".

Donny ran through the US Open field without rack-your-own and got a really bad roll not to be in the finals.

Chris

What kind of money odds do you want Donnie per-set with me racking playing the 10 ball ghost? Lets say we will bet 3,000, what will you bet against it racing to 15?

When playing rack your own one pocket I always put the 1, 3, 5 up front. If I am racking for my opponent I put the 1, 6, 7 up front. For some reason or another I haven't noticed any difference in winning % either way :(

Try putting the 6 and 15 up front.
