square end on full splice cues

i bought 500 one piece cues from an antique pool table restorer, i was told most of these cues were made from the 1920's to the 1940's as are the old tables he restores.
i am trying to find out when makers [ and they were dozens ] of the old one piece full splice cue stared using the square splice at the butt end of the splice.

If I understand your question - you are asking when they stopped
doing the splice so that the 'back end' of the points was just as
sharp as the front.

My best SWAG would be the 60s, more or less. This is just another example
of the lack of information available about the history of pool - esp
developments in equipment.

I do know that Katz made the sharp on both ends points untill they
shut down - circa mid 70s I believe.

Tate might have some clues from old catalogs, but the sad truth is, even
if it's about Brunswick, you have very little chance of finding any info.
Anyone else - virtually no chance.

There are some people who collect antique cues that might be able
to shed some light, but, good luck at locating them too.

i sorted about 500 cues this weekend and found 3 brunswick with the ' true balance ' label and they have the square back splice, i will have photos of the cues and labels, and the points later

old one piece true balance cues with sharp points in front and square in back. what years did brunswick make these cues?
