Shy but wants to play

Good job ! You're off to a bangin' start !
Keep us posted , and let us know your progress .
And , when the night does come that you have to play Ctwitty , don't give him that easy game he's expecting , WHUP HIM !

Twitty, half a year has passed since my first post, and I've learned quite a bit from entering tournaments, playing on league and shooting a few nights a week with other people. I'm also no longer much of a banger, either.

Fall BCA league started last night and here are my stats:

Game 1: 10 points (won)
Game 2: 10 points (won)
Game 3: 10 points (won)
Game 4: 4 points (dang, made a mistake, that's all it takes)

34 out of a possible 40 is not just luck. I can shoot a decent game. I'm getting better, but APA still sucks now that I've met a bunch of people who 'used to play' with them and also heard their horror stories. ;)

Nice improvement skiergirl. Seems like you're "outgrowing" APA. I guess once people learn more about pool, the less tolerant some become of all the shenanigans league play inherently delivers.

Best of rolls,

Matt

@skiergirl55

I really enjoyed reading your *reports* since you joined here :-)
It s always a pleasure to see ppl like you who got so addicted to pool Bonni- and today you posted you last report:
Impressive how your skills went better-
Go lil queenie^^ keep shooting,

always a smooth stroke,

lg from overseas,
Ingo

No offense to you personally, but you'd have to hog-tie me, stuff me in a burlap sack, beat me with an iron bar, and threaten to do the same to my cat to get me to play in an APA league.

:outtahere:

BCA for this banger. I've seen what the APA produces, and I don't think I wanna go there. I play these people when they're not shooting on league night.....and I don't accept slopping them in or being stuck with a crappy lie because I happened to get unlucky on the break and sink one of the cowboys in the valley instead of one of the Indians on the ridge.:nono:

('lie' is a golf term.....what is it in pool when stripes look infinitely better than solids after the break?)

Another AZ Billiards success story.

The vocal minority on this site managed to take a person who knew nothing about league play and totaly convince her that one of the leagues is complete crap instead of encouraging her to try them all and choose for herself.

I wonder where many of us would be if, before we actually started playing and enjoying the game of pool, others had hounded us about what a crappy game this was over and over and eventually convinced us never to play.

As I said, simply another successful thread hijacking by the vocal minority of APA haters. Well done. Give yourself a pat on the back.

I made the decision to play BCA based on the RULES they used. We have 3 leagues to choose from here that I have explored, and I don't like the APA rules.

I don't want to be forced to take 'whatever falls down the rabbit hole on the break'. I don't want to play with people who shoot at any ball (or group of balls) and hope one goes in, getting points for that. I want that to be a foul. I want ACCOUNTABILITY for each shot during the game. I can slop all kinds of crap in, but that's just what it is: crap. That doesn't make me a good shooter, that makes me lucky.

BCA doesn't let slop count......that appeals to me and THAT is what has made me a better player. I don't bang them around anymore. I do that, and I lose.

FWIW, this board had very little to do with my choice of league. It's the actual people I played with locally that convinced me BCA is a better choice.

The practice of reading someone's mind is fairly hard....you're wrong most of the time.

Nice to meet you today, bobalouiecda. You're one hell of a shooter and I could learn a lot from watching you. Hope to see you some Thursdays now that you know where we hide out.

welcome

Welcome to AZB,Washington State and to POOL!

Have you checked out Black Diamond Billiards yet?BDB was formerly McQs with used to hold a pretty good regional tourney.I hear its reopened with a new owner and some renovations.

Give em hell!It sounds like you are a quick learner.

I'm at Black Diamond at least once every week for BCA league. :)

They've made some remarkable improvements, lowered the table fees for 9 footers, are remodelling still (dusty mess all the time), and pool is free on the bar box tables from 10-midnight. They have the best burgers I've ever had. It will be interesting to see what the finished place will be like: rumor has it they will be having live music, too.

I had a headache last night and didn't do that well. Last night's BCA league scores:

Game 1: 10 points (won)
Game 2: 6 points
Game 3: 5 points
Game 4: 6 points

This is week 2 of play, one more week and handicaps will be established. I'm having fun doing this, and that is what is important!

Skiergirl

I enjoy reading your reports about your progress, and you seem to have a very good attitude towards the sport. Sounds like you are not just a girl shooting Pool anymore, but becoming more of a player. Good luck in your quest..

I had a headache

I've heard that one before or was it I have a headache. :D Just kidding! A little set back is a good thing. Sub par performance happens to all of us. Its over with and time to move on. From reading posts your enthusiasm will not let it be an issue. Although humbling at times, its all good. Good luck with your game you've come a long ways in a short amount of time.

I had a skiing accident at Schweitzer Mountain Jan. 2007 (compound fracture, right tibia and fibula, ouch), and after that high speed ragdoll, I've had headaches every day since then. Most days I walk around like a zombie and deal with it, but sometimes it gets very bad.

Last night it was unbearable. It was also the start of Monday night football, and between all the big screen tv's blasting the game, some idiot chunking quarters in the jukebox, and the general noise of pool......let's just say it was a miracle that no one ended up in the hospital. I was ready to kill.:(

I just love hearing the crack of the break, love how the balls shine when they roll and the satisfying 'clunk' when it goes in the pocket, I love shooting lightning fast and rolling them slower than honey across the green....I could go on and on. What's not to love?

(Oh, I am not fond of the 6 ball. I call it Popeye (spinach colored assball).........that sum***** has lost me more than one game because it's the same color as the cloth and I miss it sometimes.)

your high and might attitude that you don't take slop is a joke. In the BCA you can slop a ball in and it will count. I can call the corner pocket, miss it and go around three rails hit three balls and go in the pocket i called and it's good as gold. Lucking a ball in now and then will almost never make a difference in a game. You and I play twenty games i bet you any amount that there won't be 5 balls lucked in the entire time. It's just something to whine about for the negative losers that have to bash the most popular and successful league and fyi i play BCA too. No one wants to hear your negative opinion, and that's all it is, about how you dislike this or that. Just TRY to compete and don't be such a whiner.
Skiing might be better for you. lol

Look, while I get what you are saying, do you really think what you are calling slop in BCA is the same as APA? Really now, do you? That's like saying there's no difference between 9 Ball and 10 Ball or that there is just as much slop in Straight Pool as 9 Ball.

The fact is that in the BCAPL 8 Ball is a call shot game.

Sorry, but imho your argument just doesn't stand up.

I don't think I whine nearly as loud as you do, cTWITty.

NEXT!!!!!

Well, another week, another set of peeps to play.

Game 1: 6 balls
Game 2: 4 balls
Game 3: 5 balls
Game 4: won

I kept missing easy shots and struggled all night. I was tired from a full day of painting (I'm doing the exterior of a house) and I had a sore neck and my right arm kept falling asleep. I must have a pinched nerve somewhere. Still not a bad showing and I feel okay about it.

I seriously doubt if anyone really gives two flying leaps about this thread, but it's therapeutic for me to write it down, so I'm gonna keep doing it. If you don't care about my progress, then move along, nothing to see here. If you don't care but are bored, here's an off-color joke hidden in the middle of some boring drivel: What do you call two gay guys named Bob? Oral Roberts. If you do care about my progress.....well, why would ya? Back to your regularly scheduled threads about what chalk is better, or how long your shaft is.

Nighto!:boring2:

That painting stuff will sure get your attention (muscles) that you rarely use. Try painting a few ceilings, you may not make it to game.

I don't give to leaps especially flying ones, well OK maybe one. Hey if it makes you feel good thinking about the torture then go ahead.

BTW I use damn near any chalk on my shaft, but I don't measure it. Hope this helps.
