Twitty, half a year has passed since my first post, and I've learned quite a bit from entering tournaments, playing on league and shooting a few nights a week with other people. I'm also no longer much of a banger, either.
Fall BCA league started last night and here are my stats:
Game 1: 10 points (won)
Game 2: 10 points (won)
Game 3: 10 points (won)
Game 4: 4 points (dang, made a mistake, that's all it takes)
34 out of a possible 40 is not just luck. I can shoot a decent game. I'm getting better, but APA still sucks now that I've met a bunch of people who 'used to play' with them and also heard their horror stories.![]()
No offense to you personally, but you'd have to hog-tie me, stuff me in a burlap sack, beat me with an iron bar, and threaten to do the same to my cat to get me to play in an APA league.
uttahere:
BCA for this banger. I've seen what the APA produces, and I don't think I wanna go there. I play these people when they're not shooting on league night.....and I don't accept slopping them in or being stuck with a crappy lie because I happened to get unlucky on the break and sink one of the cowboys in the valley instead of one of the Indians on the ridge.:nono:
('lie' is a golf term.....what is it in pool when stripes look infinitely better than solids after the break?)
I had a headache
I made the decision to play BCA based on the RULES they used. We have 3 leagues to choose from here that I have explored, and I don't like the APA rules.
I don't want to be forced to take 'whatever falls down the rabbit hole on the break'. I don't want to play with people who shoot at any ball (or group of balls) and hope one goes in, getting points for that. I want that to be a foul. I want ACCOUNTABILITY for each shot during the game. I can slop all kinds of crap in, but that's just what it is: crap. That doesn't make me a good shooter, that makes me lucky.
BCA doesn't let slop count......that appeals to me and THAT is what has made me a better player. I don't bang them around anymore. I do that, and I lose.
FWIW, this board had very little to do with my choice of league. It's the actual people I played with locally that convinced me BCA is a better choice.
The practice of reading someone's mind is fairly hard....you're wrong most of the time.
:slap:
your high and might attitude that you don't take slop is a joke. In the BCA you can slop a ball in and it will count. I can call the corner pocket, miss it and go around three rails hit three balls and go in the pocket i called and it's good as gold. Lucking a ball in now and then will almost never make a difference in a game. You and I play twenty games i bet you any amount that there won't be 5 balls lucked in the entire time. It's just something to whine about for the negative losers that have to bash the most popular and successful league and fyi i play BCA too. No one wants to hear your negative opinion, and that's all it is, about how you dislike this or that. Just TRY to compete and don't be such a whiner.
Skiing might be better for you. lol

BTW I use damn near any chalk on my shaft, but I don't measure it. Hope this helps.
