Diamond barbox, short race tournament. You have BIH. How would you play this?? Carom off the 2 to make the 9 is not there.

That's one option. What I don't like about your post is the word "hopefully". Since the straight back draw is not on, and you have a little angle, do you know how to aim it to hit the 2 or the 9, and which one would you want to hit??
Straight back is not too hard to judge, IME.

You gotta have a lotta hope from there

Oh for sure go for het carom on the 9. You want the cue to be left of the 5 ball just in case you hang up the 9 the 2 ball could end up on the side rail near the 6 ball leaving your opponent completely safe or a bank. Yeah.... Ride that 9 for sure

Good call Patrick  I didnt see your post before i posted but yeah... Like that

shoot the 1 in the far side get the cueball down by the 6 bank the 2 into the 9 draw cueball back by the 8 send 9 to the hole and 2 up table

Shoot the one over to the side long rail. Use the 5-7-8 as blockers, then carom the c/b into the 2/9 hard enough to separate them.

I'd break my own rule of putting the OB near the 9. If this works, and your opponent gives up BIH, it's a very basic 1-9 combo for the win.
