Most pro players would not pay thousands for a cue if you held a gun on them. If a cue makers gives them one it is likely they will turn in into cash at the first opportunity. I know because I have bought a lot of cues from players I know were given to them. Szamboti actually "GAVE" a cue to world champion player for nothing that I bought for $350.00 later because the guy wanted to go to the track. He valued that gift from Szamboti as nothing, he would rather make a bet on a dog.Are there any? I saw Efren's cue at the Derby, and it looked pretty basic. Seems like most of the really good players are using something with a low deflection shaft that's pretty basic.
There have been a lot of cue threads lately that got me to thinking " What top player plays with a really high dollar cue? "
I've owned several cues in the $3000. to $7000. range and frankly have customs now that only cost a tenth of that and play better, much better.
I think the price of some of the cues I've seen for sale are seriously inflated. I also understand the economics of keeping the price of those cues where they are, because some people could lose a lot of money. I learned the hard way that just because a cue costs a lot and was made by a certain cue builder doesn't mean its going to play good for me.
