My friend who have cancer (some kind of Hodgkin's lymphom) came to pool room tonight. He wasn't play for couple of months now and when he saw table he couldn't resist and start to play 14/1.
50 minutes later he miss the 8 ball and score was 139...

that is awsome, and may be his last herra , I am praying its not of course but what a way to go out.

He is doing something he loves.

That's not a bad run, but don't tell him the pockets are just about as wide in the throat of the pocket...as it is in the opening...4 1/2";) which is why the runs are going to be much higher there than any where else...but as long as he's a happy camper...that's all that really counts:D

I had a buddy who did a little vacation stint in the slammer. After 11 months away he came back and played just as good, or better than when he'd left. One of us commented about did they have a pool table in the joint and did you get in some practice. His response was that he did a million mental runouts, no pool table in sight, while he had the time on his hands.

I see you list your location as "on the road, everywhere" but I didn't figure you were working in Croatia too!

Just to say ... 139 is our national record in 14/1 now. We don't have straight pool background, nobody plays that game. Once in year we have 14/1 tournament and also in masters :D
But our player (he's personal record 110 in 14/1) won European championship in straightpool :D :D :D )

I'm sending Borat to Croatia with my 14.1 notebook of how to run BIG numbers at 14.1.......could be a new movie deal right?

seriously.......anything over 100 without being a resident of the east coast of the US is a REAL GOOD run!

My high number is 127 and my little sister just offered me 80 no count......tough 14.1 country up here folks!!!!

139, wow I'd need 7" pockets and a year to get there. Thats a great run no matter what. Anything can happen, get froze to a ball, run is over, scratch off the break, not have a good break. I dont care what the equipment is 139 takes a strong 14.1 mind just for the patterns alone.

My best is 8 balls at 14.1 and 12 in onepocket. Figure that out.

Have any threads here ever discussed how layoffs like this can help? ...and why those work?

I'd like to see some input here on that. Something's going on in a person's head by these long layoffs from pool. What is it and can it be tapped into via shorter layoffs, I wonder?

lol, 139 balls is incredible no matter what, even on 5 inch pockets, u will still need precise cue ball control and consistency

You never know when your time is up.

Make good use of your time, like your friend.

Since it's so easy, why don't you go over to Croatia and break 139?
