US OPEN: darkhorse picks

My Darkhorse's in no particular order!!!!!

Karl Boyes
Mike Davis
Manny Chau

Best wishes group!

Max Eberle
Brandon Shuff

Those of you who have Brandon Shuff - you realize he's playing Ralph Souquet next, right? He's gonna need one mighty dark lance to overcome that joust.

Anyone from NC knows BJ is a beast and an intimidating presence on the table. I like him to do well this tourney.

Sorry but Ralf Souquet in a race to 11 with Shuff is a hair too tough, expect him in the losers bracket. Yes, before you bark I will bet on that.

i talked with brandon before his opening match all he was talking about was he playing ralf in the third round he is really pumped for this match, we will wait and see

I do think that anyone outside of the top 10-20 in the rankings, or other absolute top players, is a dark horse, whether or not they're known to the public. Winning this type of tournament is an incredibly hard task. There are players who have the skills to win almost anyone on a given day, but I do think there aren't too many players who really have it in them to win a tournament like this.

Evidence: just look at past winners (and runner-ups) and their record in other tournaments when they've won US Open.

I pick Oscar Dominguez to win it!!!!

That would be awesome, as him and I have been close friends for nearly a decade.

If Oscar plays like he did in that Turning Stone tournament he won, everyone else is playing for 2nd! He shot the lights out that's for sure!!!

Good idea but Saki is served in Japan But Lo Wen is Chinese. You might need to figure out the right drink before you decide to execute your plan.

Actually, Lo is Taiwanese, but he's been living in Japan for a very long time now. He might even be a naturalized Japanese citizen, I'm not sure. So sake wouldn't be a bad choice of drinks for him if he is a drinker (although the sake they serve in most places in the US is garbage compared to the stuff in Japan, so you might want to buy him a few beers instead).

My pick for darkhorse to win would be Jayson Shaw from U.K. Monster player for only 21, he has to play Darren Appleton if he can win that i think he will go far in the tourney
