US OPEN: darkhorse picks

Here are my favorites

Stevie Moore - Good friend.
Adam GQ Smith - Nice guy and he takes his time.
Mike Dechaine - Never seems to get flustered.
Hunter Lombardo - Nice guy and would like to see him go far.

Jesse Engel - Just keeping my eys on him.

I'm gonna go SUPER DUPER darkhorse: BJ Ussery. Beat Shaun Wilkie like a drum 11-4 & a win against Chris Melling today would give him a lot of momentum to carry into a matchup against Lo Li-Wen.

Brandon Shuff is my dark horse although I think he finished 17th last year or year before.

I'm with you Brian!

Cometh the hour - cometh the man.

I think young Mr Shuff has donned his armour and will joust his way to this title.
It will do me a lot of good if he does and Ralf can come back the hard way.

Anyone from NC knows BJ is a beast and an intimidating presence on the table. I like him to do well this tourney.

Sorry but Ralf Souquet in a race to 11 with Shuff is a hair too tough, expect him in the losers bracket. Yes, before you bark I will bet on that.

I saw that too...a bit unexpectedly lopsided!

But also in the unexpected file: the last 2 times BJ and I played the scores were 9-1 and 9-0 and we each won once!

I'm rooting for Nigel Francis... because he's a friend and would be the ultimate dark horse. It's his first US Open and I bet none of you have even heard of him before lol.

Fuiji sponsored!

Oh, you're talking about the player sponsored by FUIJI..........

Imagine the interest Fuiji might develop in pool if Brandon does win it!

How much will you bet?

I heard of him while he was here, playing in some Eurotour stops ;)

Valid point. We americans probably see less of the giant kill-able Asians than any other pool playing region in the world.

Being I pull for USA first, I'm gonnna try and buddy up to Lo and overserve some saki to him! ;) Does that make me a bad person?

Good idea but Saki is served in Japan But Lo Wen is Chinese. You might need to figure out the right drink before you decide to execute your plan.

You win one drink of choice (under $20)! He's been training a good bit for this... at least trying to fit training in between school and work :P I forgot he had played some events over there.
