If moderators or anyone else don't mind, I thought it would be a good idea to have thread for just general comments about the tournament. Not every comment deserves its own thread and I'm sure many here would like to have a place for general ranting.

The comment I had in mind was that I'm pretty surprised how few surprises there have been in the tournament so far. There are few, sure, but say SVB's loss wasn't too big of surprise if you saw how he played in that match, which I'm sure he'll admit himself too. I know Alex lost his match earlier too, but in general it feels like the favorites have not seen too many upsets. Anyone else feel like this?

If this is a stupid idea for a thread, I don't mind if the mods delete it.

so many 9 on the snaps! and im not talking about ones that trickle down one of the bottom corner pockets that would suggest rigging of the rack. Orcullo hit them three in a row and they're kicked in past the head string.

Charlie williams had two in a row as well in the same fashion as orcullos.

Great thread!

Here's one I had earlier today: During a break in the Crosby/Santos match, Danny D said to Jim: "Well you can look at the scores if you want, I'll be looking at Jennifer." ... after noting that Jenn B was warming up on the next table.

Also - that match with Orcullo and Archer on Monday... was amazing! Archer was down 6-2 to come back to win 11-9! not sure it's an upset, but it was surprising that he started off down so much.

There was a sponser that offered $100 for anyone making the 9 on the break on the TV table a few years back. Maybe the Sardo Bros?

Too bad no one is keeping stats for all 16 tables.

Looks like the tournament is running smoothly.

It is really nice to have the real time scoring provided by AZ Billiards and sponsorded by Lucasi Hybrid cues.

Looks like pinoys are having hard time today, Bartram won Gomez, Appleton won Alcano, Hohmann took Corteza, Kiamco lost to Orme.

Busti and Efren won their matches though.

Correction - the tournament was running smoothly. Barry's parade of champions after the dinner break either went longer than planned or was planned poorly.

I received the following email @ 2 am this morning.

"Barry had the past champions parade so there was an extended break around 8 p.m. during the the winners' side matches. Almost all of the matches finished around 11-ish. They then started ANOTHER round, which at this point (1:50 a.m.) has seen a few winners but mostly is still going.

One match that started at 8 p.m. is still going. AND, because they used up 16 tables because they had 16 winners' side matches in the 8 p.m. round, they couldn't start the last match of the SECOND round, which started around 11 p.m., until just now because the first match from the second round just ended. So Huidji See and Dennis Harr JUST started. "

The live scoring is much appreciated, thank you.

I would say the story of the tournament so far is all the 9's on the break. Especially since its rack your own format.

Charlie seemed almost apologetic about it.

I would like to see Bartrum snap this, since he is a big contibutor to the forum and has given us many action matches in the past.

Others that i like are Earl, Shane and Mills.

I can't believe ALL of your picks are on the one loss side! The one loss side is packed with talent besides these guys too!

Are they playing today? Shouldn't the first livestreaming match have already started? What's up?

Earl's match with Chris Futrell could be a test of Earl's current frame of mind. I recently heard from someone that attended a tournament that Earl played in, that Earl seemed to "be on his meds" as most are prone to say. Chris Futrell is a very nice, local young man so the crowd will be pulling for him to do well. Earl has had some issues (to put it nicely) with the crowd in the past so it will be interesting to see how he reacts (if at all) to his opponents hometown crowd.

Chris is a good dude indeed. And he plays pretty sporty too, he is the second or third best 9 ball player in Tidewater. I hope he does well I am an Earl fan but I won't be mad if he snaps him off!

Anyone know what time this match is? I would love to go over there and watch but I am at work til 6.

The match is going on right now. Chris Futrell is one of my most favorite players to watch. His composure at the table at such a young age is very refreshing.

Right now they're tied @ 3. GO CHRIS!

Dechaine was up 5-0 against Oscar Dominguez and now Oscar has the match tied at 5. Great shooting Oscar, keep it up buddy!
